Chapter 30: Engagement

Eya's Point of View

It's our third day being confined here in the hospital. Boredoms are striking at me now. I couldn't able to see people outside. Bukas pa raw kasi kami madi-dischrage rito. Another one day left to stay here, one day to wait. Ewan ko kung bakit nag-extend ng isang araw the fact that to day I supposed to be at home. Magaling at okay na rin naman ako. 'Yung mga anak ko ay nakalabas na rin. It's me who still live here.

Walang kahit isang anino ng pamilya ko rito. I don't even have dressed to wear except to this white long dress. Balak ko sanang magbihis dahil basang-basa na ng mga pawis ang likod ko. Hindi ko naman puwedeng suotin 'yun dahil hindi naman ako aattend ng kasal or events ngayon.

The nurse came inside my room to give me some medicine. She notices that my body was perspiring heavily. "Please take off your shirt. And dress new one so your skin won't get irritated and itchy." The nurse said.

"I don't have any dress. I want to dress up now." I replied. "Naku, na'san ba kasi ang mga gamit ni'yo?" She asks.

"Inuwi na siguro ng asawa't mga anak ko." Giit ko sa kanya. "Ohh what is that?" She looks closely to that white dress hanging on the wall." She said and look at me. "You might wear that one."

"I'm just a patient not a partygoer." Sabi ko sa kanya. "Baka gusto mong magkasakit ulit?" Inirapan ko naman siya as if naman may magagawa pa ako rito.

Total sobrang basa naman ang buong katawan ko. I am then helpless kaya sinunod ko nalang ang kagustuhan niyang magbihis ako ng damit na ito. "Hayssstttt." I mumbled.

Pumasok na ako sa CR upang magbihis at pagkatapos kong magbihis ay lumabas na. I thought that nurse wasn't there already. But when I came out, she still standing beside my bed, holding a new wheelchair, waiting for me to come out.

"Let's go." She said. I was wondering kung bakit may dala siyang wheelchair eh hindi naman kritical 'yung kondisyon ko. I could walk normally and even run faster as cheetah.

"What is that for?" I asked her what is the purpose of that wheelchair she is holding. "This will be your foundation. At saka magpapahangin lang tayo. Hindi puwede sa mga pasyente ang maliligo sa mainit na araw." She uttered.

"Do I looked like a polyostotic fibrous dysplasia patient?" Ani ko sa kanya. "Wala ng arte-arte pa." She uttered contrarily to what I said.

Ipinaupo na niya ako sa wheelchair dito. At first I get irritated dahil hindi naman ito nababagay sa minor injury lang. I think she might play an overacting role in this story ngunit habang tumatagal akong nakaupo rito ay nasasarapan naman ako. Ang sarap ng hangin na kumakalabit sa balat at muhka ko.

Hindi ko alam kung saan kami pupunta. Basta-basta nalang kasi niyang inihinto rito sa maraming tao sa labas. I guess nagpapahangin din sila rito. Masariwa kasi ang hangin sa labas kesa roon sa hininga ng aircon. Okay na rin ako rito dahil pwede ko namang hintayin dito sa labas ang asawa ko sa ipinabili ng doktor sa kanya na gamot.

"Let's go at the center." Lumingon naman ako sa kanya sanhi ng pagkagulat ko. "Bakit doon pa?" I asked her wonderingly.

"Mas masyado kasing mahangin doon." She said while pushing slowly the wheelchair to run. "This is enough for me." Sabi ko sa kanya but she still insisted.

Nang maka-abot na kami ay nakita ko si Steven bitbit ang isang kumpol ng bulaklak dito sa kaliwa. When he came closer to me, I felt butterflies in my stomach. Mas lalong nagulat pa ako rito nang makita kong may sumunod sa kanya. They also wear red polo shirt and black pants in the lower parts. And a white hat on their head.
