AN: old cheesy original story based on my college friends (I'm Lauren here haha)
- college setting

Nadine's POV

The first time I saw him in front of my college building, I didn't know what to do. I was waiting for my older sister so we could go home together together. Lauren, my other friend, have already left. I wanted to go hide but I fought the urge as it would be too immature even for me.

He glanced at me, I stared back. It seems he doesn't really recognize me.

I smiled at him. And seeing comprehension in his face, he nods back at me. He must have remembered that I'm one of Lauren's friends.

---

I saw him again. I knew for sure that he recognized me. It was only last Thursday that Lauren officially introduced us to each other. But even so, I still didn't know what to do. I don't want him to think that I am overly familiar with him. But it seems I was being silly. He smiled and even waved at me. I waved back and greeted him.

"Hi James," I said. He went over to me. I panicked but I think I did it covertly.

"Nadine." He said.

I smiled at him.

"Where's Lauren?" He asked as he sat beside me. Lauren is his classmate from high school.

"She already went home. I'm just waiting for someone." I replied.

"Ah."

"You?" I asked.

"I have to go there." He said as he pointed to the university library. "I need do to a report." He explained.

"Oh." Was the only thing I said.

"It does suck." He said, as if reading my mind. "Well then, I'll be off now." He said standing up.

"Okay. Bye." I said but he was already by the dirt path.

He waved his hand but did not turn around.

---

I was startled when someone suddenly sat beside me, but I was even more startled when I saw who it was.

"You're here again."

"James! You surprised me." I said, my hands on my chest.

"Oh. Did I? Sorry 'bout that. Lauren gone home already?"

"Yeah. I'm waiting for someone."

"Oh. You're boyfriend?"

"No. My sister. She studies business administration." I explained. "We always go home together."

"Ah. I'm waiting for someone, too. My friend needs something from library and he asked me to accompany him."

We were quiet for a while but it wasn't awkward.

Finally I asked him, "Did something good happen today?"

"Hm?"

"You seem a little... bouncy."

He chuckled at that. He really is happy today.

"Bouncy?" He raised an eyebrow at me.

I smiled and shrugged.

"It's nothing. It's just a good day." He said.

He glanced forward. "Oh, that's Bret. Well, I'll see you." He said already walking towards his friend.

"Bye!" I called back.

I saw him mock-punch his friend, saw his friend grumble, and saw him laugh at that. He really is happy today.
