"You don't sleep."
That was what the adults always say to him.
He doesn't really understand it though. He does sleep. He actually sleeps a lot because he tire so very easily.
That's what his older sister say, anyway. She said he was such a wimpy kid. And he can't really contradict it, because if he compare himself to his friends, yes, he does seem weaker than them. He can't run very fast and after just a while, he's already very exhausted.
"You don't sleep."
As he got older, they still say this, though something changed with their tone.
They held something. And he soon found out it was fear.
Because he's different from their children; different from them.
His sister said he's different because he's weak, but he knew that was just her roundabout way of trying to protect him.
He is different.
He never realized it until his mom told him a bedtime story about an old myth.
It wasn't a usual story to tell to a seven years old, but that's just his mom. She told him all about the first rulers of the eath, Uranus the god of sky, Gaia the goddess of the land, and their son, Cronus.
Cronus. He was the leader and the youngest of the first generation of Titans, divine descendants of Gaia, the earth, and Uranus, the sky. He overthrew his father and ruled during the mythological Golden Age. The king of heaven, the god of time.
The god of time.
That was what he could do, he realized. That was why he can sneak out the classroom without anyone noticing, that was why he doesn't get late going home even though he played until it was already past curfew; that was why when he wakes up, it was as if time never passed.
Because it never did.
As he sleeps, time sleep as well.
That was why he doesn't sleep. The adults were right.
After he realized that, his world became much different. Now he can revell on his powers. Because that's what it is.
'I am Cronus.' He thought. 'I am the King.'
But after a while, after the frenzy and excitement about what he could do, it had became dull for him.
He have so much time. Too much time that it got so boring.
It got boring even for just a thirteen years old like him.
But then he met this girl.
It was during summer and he had an accident. It was solely because of his poor judgement; an elapsed of logic and reason. He was walking home from school when it happened. He saw a stray black cat and for a while he followed it, just watching. Cats, that was one of the few things that can hold his interest for a time.
But as he followed it, he watched as it took a turn to the road and the next thing he knew, he was running towards it before the car hits it.
He had stopped the time, but he was already brushed by the car.
He certainly would have been more severely injured if he hadn't stopped it, though. He was injured but it was only minor.
And he was glad that the cat was fine.
But this didn't sit well with his mom, and after taking one look at him, his family rushed him to the hospital.
That was where they met.
