She is Harriet, the fourth and youngest child of King George IV, of the small country of Cerrasta.
He is Lance of the House of Livingston, the clan sworn to protect the royal family.
They've known each other since they were young and they've always played their roles well.
She is the Princess, and he is her protector. Since they were born, their roles has been set.
Princess Harriet, being the fourth and only daughter of the King, didn't have much constraint or demands on her.
The eldest, Prince Cole was to be successor. And if in some way, he cannot fulfill his duties, Prince Ruben, and then Prince Lucas are the next in line.
Lance, being assigned to the expendable royal child, was thought of to be expendable as well. And he would go and pretend to be insulted, or to hate being assigned to her.
But that was far from the truth. Because more than being a Princess and a Protector, they were friends. The best of friends.
It was when Harriet was eighteen, during her ball, that she announced of her decision to the Kingdom.
She will be relinquishing her title as the Princess, and instead, she wishes to study to be a Healer. Which to her, would be a better way of serving their people.
This decision was met with different reactions. There are those who applaud her selflessness and eagerness to serve. And there are also those who questions her motives.
Harriet didn't care about those. The only thing that worried her was what Lance's reaction would be.
It would also mean he need not be her Protector anymore. He can either be assigned to another royalty, or else decide to relinquish his title as Protector as well.
He did neither.
"You are still of royal blood, and you still need protection." Was what he told her.
So he continued to protect her. He continued to stay by her side.

Sometimes it does get a little old for Harriet. Everyone else seemed to have stopped treating her like a Princess, except for one person.
Lance.
He is as he has always been. A strictler for rules, a very disciplined and proper man, a very overprotective bodyguard.
Sometimes she wishes he'd just relax, especially when it was just the two of them. Neither of them were treated much differently from other civilians by now. Her brother have been crowned King and already have successors. She herself, was already a Healer.
