They first realized it when James got another offer for a collab with an American based producer.

This was the second time, and like the last time, Nadine was all for him taking it. And James, unlike last time when he shut it down immediately, was actually conflicted.

He knows it's a big opportunity. He knows this can push him and his other artists closer to his vision of bringing OPM to an international stage... but then, can he do it? Is he really capable?

And he'll have to be regularly going to LA for it, which would mean he'd have to constantly be away from Nadine.

Was it worth it? Can he even do it without Nadine?

The second realization came with the announcement of James's iWant series--even though he didn't even know they'd be announcing it the same day they ask him to come for a meeting.

He wasn't quite sure about it--it was a romance series but it wasn't with Nadine. For years, he'd be refusing offers that pairs him with anyone but Nadine, and he had half the mind to refuse this one, too. But Nadine herself told him to think about it first, and at least meet with Sir Deo.

But everything happened so fast and there were press people and he was now being introduced to this kpop star he haven't heard of before and, well, shit, the cat is out of the bag. And he hasn't even agreed with it yet.

He was quick to stop people pairing him with the girl even younger than his little brother, but it was already hell online. There were a lot of things said against him and against Nadine, and he usually doesn't care, but it made him realize one thing.

The people aren't ready for him doing things without Nadine even more so than he was. And that bothered him.

Because it wasn't even entirely the society's fault. He made it that way. He refused to work with other leads for years and that developed certain expectations from their fans.

It shouldn't be surprising, even seeing him on the streets or the mall, they'd ask him about Nadine. It was normal to him, to them. They were a team and they were in love, so they were expected to be together all the time, and that was how he wanted it, too. But then...

Somehow, it brought some insecurities in him, and it got him thinking--could he actually be someone in the biz if it wasn't for Nadine? If it wasn't for JaDine? Who is James Reid without Nadine?

He was scared at his thoughts.

That night he has opened it up with Nadine, and like he know she would, she was reassuring but also listening to what he really had to say. It was therapeutic.

But then, Nadine also had some things to share.

How she had been thinking of the same thing, and how she was feeling a bit lost again. She couldn't feel motivated to work and she just felt exhausted.

He had reassured her in turn, telling her she must have been tired from doing projects after projects and that they should take it easy for the rest of the months of the year, maybe go out of town when they can.

She easily agreed, and they slept holding each other, as usual. And everything seemed okay again.

That was all the security they both needed, knowing everything was okay with the two of them.

Eventually, after much talks and much pushing from Nadine, James has decided to take up the offer for a collab with the American producer. They've discussed about it and they decided it was too good of an opportunity to waste. And anyway, he doesn't have to move to LA. They can handle being away from each other for a few days, maybe a few weeks. And maybe, if Nadine is free, she can go with him from time to time.
