The Gate part 1
________________________

Jessica watched as the young lovebirds reunited with a hug.

"I never gave up on you. I called you ever night. Every night for-"

"353 days. I heard."

Jessica wished that she could love someone like that one day. She walked over to Max and hugged her from behind, resting her head on hers.

"They're really cute," Jessica mumbled into her hair.

"Not as cute as you and Steve would be," Max whispered back, earning a shove from her sister.

When Hopper intervened the reunion, it was clear that he was hiding her for a good chunk of time. Mike began to grow angry at the adult and had to talk to him in a different room.

When they left El went around greeting people. After she hugged Dustin and Lucas, she made her way over to Jessica, who still stood by Max.

El looked from Jessica to Max, "The girl you were looking for?"

"Yeah. When I met you, I was looking for my sister. This is Max."

Max stuck out her hand for El to shake, offering up her friendship. El dismissed it by hugging Jessica. Jessica remembered how broken El had looked when she saw Mike and Max together.

"Max likes Lucas, just so you know," Jessica whispered into the girl's ear.

When El pulled away, she nodded to Max and then moved on to hug Joyce. The pair left to go check on Will and make sure that he was still doing okay.

When they came back and walked into the kitchen table, the group followed them. They listened to Joyce talk about El opening the gate before and if she could close it or not.

Nobody gave any input to the situation until Hopper and Mike returned from their conversation as to not have to catch them up later on.

Jessica listened to Hopper explain that the lab was swarming with demodogs and that there was basically no way in. El decided to argue with him and told Hopper repeatedly that she could do it.

Will being apart of the army was the only conflict at the moment. They remembered that if someone were to close the gate that it would kill his army and Will was apart of it.

The group migrated into the room where Will was resting as to think of a plan to stop him. Almost immediately as they got in his room, Joyce muttered that he kept telling her he liked it cold.
