Trick or Treat Freak part 2
_________________________

Tommy had left Jessica in the empty bedroom after he had finished. She had started to sober up and couldn't believe what just happened. Jessica felt sick to her stomach and needed fresh air.

She put her clothes back on, looked in the mirror and wiped her tears away. Jessica stumbled a little bit into the hallway and made her way downstairs where the music was still playing deafeningly loud.

She avoided people's gaze and went straight out the front door. She deeply breathed in the fresh air and then completely broke down.

Jessica had moved to the corner of the porch as to not be seen by too many people, but they could still hear her.

Steve was outside before her and watched the whole mental breakdown. Despite what he had gone through that night, he felt as though he had known her his whole life and had to make sure that she was okay.

Steve made his way over to where she was sitting and crouched down to her level. He put an arm on her shoulder and asked if she was okay.

Jessica flinched when his hand came into contact with her shoulder, so he brought his hand back down to his side.

"Sorry about that, are you okay?"

"Yeah, just made the most stupid decision of my life. Wait, what about you? Have you been crying?" Even though Jessica was upset with what had happened moments before, her heart broke at the thought of Steve crying.

"Oh, uh, just got in a fight with Nancy. It's no big deal."

Guilt immediately consumed Jessica as she thought back to her only interaction with his girlfriend.

"I don't know what happened between the two of you, but whatever it is I know that you'll overcome it. I've heard all of these great stories about you being a douchebag and then turning soft, so if you can do that, you can do anything."

There was some sarcasm to her words about 'great' stories, but she meant every single one of them.

"Oh, and who have you heard these great stories from?"

"My friend Robin. She's cool and sarcastic. A perfect match for me." There was a nice silence after Jessica had stopped talking.

Steve sat next to her, looking up at the stars and just admiring how comforting it was to talk to her.

"I didn't mean to insult Nancy today. It's just hard for me to make friends. I was intoxicated, I feel like a jerk now."

Steve looked over at Jessica and saw how genuine she was. He thought it over and knew it would be best to give Nancy a break and wait a little bit before she talked to her.

"Alright, just wait a couple of days to apologize. She needs a while to cool down and don't do it at school."

"Then where am I supposed to apologize?"

"I have paper and a pen in my car, so I'll write down her address for you."

The two of them made their way over to his parked BMW down the street.

"Let me take you home." Jessica looked up at his sudden offer. "You don't seem like you want to stick around this party any longer and I'm sure you don't live anywhere near here, so let me take you home."

Steve didn't seem like the kind of person to say they were going to take someone home and then expect them to do something else. He seemed safe.

"Okay, I just have to tell Billy I have a ride home."

Jessica thanked Steve for the ride and address as he pulled in front of her house. She felt as though she had made a new friend or at the very least, someone she could talk to.

Once she made it inside the house, she was thankful that her father was fast asleep in the living room. Jessica headed straight to her bedroom to begin getting ready for the night.

She tried to be quiet as to not wake Max, but surprisingly when she opened the door, Max was sitting up in bed, waiting for her arrival.

Max told her about trick or treating, while Jessica told her about her night, minus what happened in the bedroom.

The next morning, Jessica woke up with a headache and the need to vomit. She ran into the bathroom to release everything and then took an Advil.

When Jessica thought back to the night before she didn't remember being too drunk coming home, but just dismissed what had happened to a hangover.
