The Mind Flayer part 3
_________________________

The group ran around the house to look for supplies. Jessica didn't fully understand the concept but helped anyway. She helped Hopper clean out the Byers shed.

"You haven't caused any more trouble, have you?" Hopper asked the younger girl, knowing that she most likely did.

"Let's just say that if you didn't catch me then no." Jessica laughed, thinking back to when the clerk saw her steal the cigarettes.

They called the police and Jim had shown up. She had gotten a talking to, but in the end, Hopper liked the girl and smoked with her.

The pair remained quiet when Nancy and Steve came in with sheets to line the walls. Hopper left the teens to help Joyce out and signalled to Jessica, somehow knowing of her crush on the boy.

It kept quiet in the shed for a little bit until Nancy awkwardly broke it.

"Hey. What you did, um, helping the kids... that was... really cool." Nancy seemed off by talking to Steve.

"Yeah, well I didn't do much. I apparently gave Dustin awful advice and Jessica did the rest. I mean, those little shits are real trouble, you know?"

"I didn't do jack shit. I was too busy vomiting everywhere. He's great with kids." Jessica offered Nancy a smile.

After Jessica had hung up one sheet on her own and yelled at the teens to 'wrap it before they tapped it', she gave the couple some alone time and walked inside the house to find Max.

Jessica happened to miss the couple looking awkwardly at each other as though they had forgotten they were together and Steve watched Jessica walk inside.

Jessica had found Max in the kitchen with Mike, fixing up a chair for Will. She sat down to observe since she didn't want to interrupt.

"I get why El was your mage now." Memories flooded through Jessica's mind when she heard that name. She remembered that she had met someone named El when looking for Max.

"What?"

"Lucas. He told me all about her."

Of course, he did, Jessica thought, the boy seemed to like her younger sister a lot, and there wasn't a whole ton he wouldn't do for her. She started to think about how nice it would be to have that with someone.
