Maggie and Alex had decided to walk around the park to enjoy their ice cream they had gotten after their date. It was getting kind of late and just as they were about to head back to the car, they stopped as they noticed you, you, a girl that seemed about 13-14 years old arguing with some men. Alex wanted to intervene but Maggie held her back. 

"We can't do anything until we see them touch or threaten her. Otherwise they'll go free if detain them."

Maggie whispers to Alex. Alex nods and they move a little closer to be able to jump in case they saw you needed help. They were still too far to hear anything but could clearly see if anyone tried anything. 

"Your daddy owes us money little girl. He won't pay up so we're taking you instead."

"Fuck off! I'm not going with either of you guys. I'll yell if any one of you try to touch me."

One of them pulls out a knife and starts to walk towards you. 

"Scream and I'll use this one you."

Maggie and Alex don't think twice as they run to you. They both pull out their weapons on them. 

"Drop the knife!"

Maggie yells to them. 

They do but not before running away. Alex runs after them, using her watch to call Supergirl. 

"Are you alright? What happened?"

You step away from her hand as she tries to touch you. 

"Nothing happened. Just a small fight.'

"These guys were 3x your age and they pulled a knife on you. I'm just trying to help you."

"Why?"

"I'm a detective and my girlfriend is an FBI agent. We help people."

"Prove it."

Maggie is taken aback by your demand but complies. She had never met anyone that doubted about the fact she was a detective. 

"My foster parent is a druggie. The two men wanted to collect their debt and said that since he wasn't paying, they'll take me instead."

Maggie nods and pulls out her little notebook to write down everything that you had told her. 

"I'll make sure you never go back to that place."

You just roll your eyes. Not believing her. The people in charge of the foster program would always tell your next family would be the last one and it never worked out. You were tired of everyone lying to you. 

"We got them. Supergirl flew them down to the station. I'm guessing we have to go in as well?"

"Yeah, I need to file a report and then we have to figure out how we'll get her out of that situation."

At the station, Maggie lets you sit down on her chair while she writes down the report. Alex had brought you something to eat so you were just watching them both talk quietly amongst each other. 

"We can't let her go back into the system Alex. I can't imagine all the horrors she's witnessed in the system."

"I know but we're not necessarily prepared to just adopt her. We can hardly take care of ourselves."

"We'll make it work. The least we can do is give her a home until we make sure her next family goes through a serious background search."

Alex looks over to you, sighing. Maggie was right. They couldn't let you go back into the system.
