"Okay, I have my gun, badge, and keys. What else do I need?" Alex looked around the apartment, trying to see if she was missing anything else. Spotting her phone, she walks over to pick it up. "Can't forget about this." She's finally ready but you're still missing. You usually always beat her in the mornings when getting ready. "(y/n)! Come on, you're going to be late." She calls for you but you don't answer. Curious as to what was holding you up, she walked over to your room to find that you weren't even awake. "Sweetheart, it's time to wake up. You're going to be late for school."
She gently shakes you to wake you up. You groan loudly and turn away from her.
"I'm not going, mom."
"What do you mean that you're not going? Are you sick?"
She rests the back of her hand on your forehead to check your temperate, finding that you weren't running a fever.
"Stop, mom. I'm not sick. I just don't feel like going. I've never missed a day. Can't I just skip?"
Alex was already running late. She had mission debriefs to go over and couldn't be late.
"Alright. Just for today. Just make sure that you get your work for the day. I'll call the school to let them know that you won't be coming. I'll see you for dinner. Call me or your aunts if you need anything, okay?"
"Yes, mom. I'll see you later."
Alex leans down and presses a kiss to your cheek before leaving you alone. With her gone, you let out a sigh of relief. You didn't think she would let you miss and for that, you were grateful. If only she could let you skip the rest of the school year.
X
Like the day before, you hadn't woken up. This time, you didn't even bother to set up your alarm.
"(y/n)! You're still not awake?"
No answer. She shakes you awake, only stopping when you answer her.
"I'm not going to school. I don't feel too good."
Alex suddenly feels bad about waking you up.
"What hurts, love?"
"Everything? My body just feels exhausted. Is it okay if I skip school today?"
"Of course. I'm not going to let you go to school like this. You need to rest and I'll stay with you. I just need to go pick up.."
"No! I can't let you skip work. Your work is important. I can take care of myself."
"Work is not as important as you. I'll call in today and let them know that I can't go."
"Mom, please. Aunt Kara depends on you. I heard that you're still planning on raiding Cadmus' warehouse."
"You're not supposed to know that. Who told you that?"
"Aunt Kara was telling me all about it."
"I swear that she's going to get me fired one day. Alright. If you insist. I'll go to work but if you need me for anything and I mean anything, call me or one of your aunts, alright?"
"Yes, mom. Be safe. I love you."
"I love you too. Now rest up."
She kisses your cheek and then leaves.

Alex was going to get to the bottom of why you kept on coming up with reasons to skip school. It was already the 4th day and you still hadn't gone to school. She had attempted to talk to you about it but you refused and then locked yourself in your room. She was at a loss about what to do.
"I don't understand, Kelly. She was fine on Monday and then Tuesday, she changed. She refuses to talk to me about it and I'm worried."
"That's strange. She always talk to you about everything."
"I know and I can't help but think that something is wrong. I just don't know how to get her to talk to me about it. I tried talking to her yesterday but she shut me down and then locked herself in her room. I couldn't get her out of it."
"I'm sorry, babe. I can talk to her if you'd like."
"Please. Maybe she'll talk to you."
"I'll come over your place after lunch then."
X
Kelly had come over in the middle of the day. You were still in your room, sleeping the day away. You had no energy to do anything and you didn't even bother to try to force yourself to do something productive. You were so behind in your classes and it made things worse for you as you thought about the failing grades and how disappointed your mother would be.
"(y/n)? I brought lunch. Alex told me that you weren't feeling too well and I thought it might be nice to accompany you."
"Kelly, thank you. You didn't have to bring me lunch."
"It's nothing. It was on the way. It's your favorite."
You didn't want her to get suspicious about anything so you forced yourself to get up and eat lunch with her. Kelly could tell what was wrong right away. She didn't say anything at first, and once you finished lunch, she slowly started to bring it up. You denied everything and then broke down as she continued to talk to you. It was hard to admit things but she made it easy.
Alex comes home to find you crying in Kelly's arms.
"What's going on?"
"Mom, I have to tell you something."
X
Alex wraps her arms around you to give you a tight hug. She was mad at herself for not noticing earlier and letting things get this far.
"I'm so sorry, (y/n). I had no idea."
"It's okay, mom. I hid it from you and I'm sorry. I should have talked to you."
"We both should have talked to each other. I'm always here for you, you know that right?"
"I know, mom. I love you."
"I love you too, (y/n)."
She presses a kiss to the top of your head and hold your a little tighter.
"Why don't we have movie night? Just the three of us?"
"I'd like that. Can I pick the movie?"
"I don't even know why you ask? You always pick them."
