You were jealous of the relationship your father had with Peter. It was upsetting for you to watch him be more of a father to a stranger than his actual daughter. If Peter knew of the kind of man that Tony was, you knew he wouldn't hesitate to give him the cold shoulder. But seeing how happy it made him be, you kept your mouth shut. After everything that your best friend has been through, he deserved a little bit of happiness.
"If you keep making that face, it'll get stuck like that."
You roll your eyes before turning to face her.
"I wasn't making a face."
"You weren't? I could've sworn that you were. It looked a little like this."
You laugh as she mimics the face that you had been making while looking at Tony and Peter.
"Okay, maybe I was. I just stubbed my toe and it hurt."
Her smile drops and you immediately knew was she was going to say.
"(y/n), you should talk to him."
You scoff and start walking away from her.
"For what? So he can laugh at my face and tell me that I'm not a true Stark. I don't need to hear that again."
Natasha was a little shocked to hear that Tony would actually say that to you.
"He really said that to you?"
She knew you wouldn't lie but she just needed to hear you confirm it.
"I don't care if you don't believe me. Not like anyone would because of course Tony Stark is a changed man. He actually cares about others now."
You shake your head and continue on your way. Of course, Nat wouldn't believe you. With how adamant Tony was that you were crazy, no one believed you. You had fooled yourself to think that Nat would care but you were wrong.
"Wait, (y/n)"
Nat tried to follow after you but you slammed the door shut on her face. She could unlock the door but she knew it would make things worse. All she could do now was talk to Tony in hopes to fix something.

"You talked to him!?"
You yelled at her, not caring if anyone heard. She had been in the middle of eating breakfast when you rushed in to interrupt it.
"I wanted to see if I could reason with him."
"You had no right!"
"I'm sorry, (y/n). I really am but I wanted to help."
"I don't need you help! I told you to stay out of my life, Natasha. You don't have to feel responsible for me. I've been taking care of myself since I was 15. I don't need you to take care of me."
You ran out of the kitchen before Nat could say anything else. If you stayed any longer, she would've seen the tears that you were unable to hold back. You didn't need her. You certainly didn't need Tony. You were fine on your own.

"I told you it was a bad idea to take in the kid."
Tony tells Nat as he casually strolls in her room. He wanted you out of the tower. With you living in the tour, things would get messy. He never liked dealing with his messes so he preferred to keep you at a distance. If it hadn't been for Nat finding out about you, he could've just kept paying you an allowance to keep you away.
"How can you say that about your own kid? You're half of the reason that she's alive."
"She's not my kid. I didn't raise her. If I had, she wouldn't have turned out the way she is."
Nat narrowed her eyes at him, this wasn't the same Tony she had so much respect for. This Tony was the one she hated.
"Well if you would've bothered to have been there for her....."
"I didn't come here for you to lecture me."
He interrupts her, a hint of annoyance clear in his voice. She would've smiled if it had been under other circumstances.
"Then what did you come here for? I can't imagine that it's because you'll finally take some responsibility."
He ignored her words as he stares out the window to look at you. After running away from Nat, you had rushed to a bench outside to be alone.
"I came here to tell you that she can't stay here anymore. Our team is barely hanging on by a thread, I don't need her to make things worse."
She scoffs at him while grabbing her overnight bag.
"You made things worse for yourself. I'm leaving with her."
"Why do you insist on taking care of her? She's made it clear that she doesn't need anybody."
"I know you're not an idiot. Even you should realize that she came in hopes to build a relationship with you. If you're not going to be there for her, then I will."

Nat quietly makes her way over to you, not wishing to scare you off. She knew if you heard her making her way over, you were going to run away again.
"I know you think that I don't care but I do."
You jump, startled to suddenly hear her voice. You quickly wipe your tears as you turn to face her.
"No, you don't. Tony is probably paying you to care or something. I should be grateful to my mother for teaching me that people always want something from me."
The former assassin takes a seat besides you, letting her bag drop at your feet.
"I do care. I don't need money from you or anything else that you think that I do. I just want to be there for you." You stare at her for the longest time, searching her eyes for any sign of her lying. When you don't find anything, you start to cry. At the sign of your tears, Nat is quick to pull you in for a hug. "I'll take care of you, (y/n). I promise to always be here for you whenever you need me."
Her words just made you cry harder. You never cared about the money that your father gave you. All you wanted was to feel an ounce of his love that he gave to Peter.
