"This entire arena seems to be laid out like a clock, with a new threat every hour." Katniss explained as the group made their way up one of the rock pathways, heading towards the cornucopia. "But they stay only within their wedge."

Adrienne furrowed her brows in slight confusion. "As in, like, two to two o' one or two to three?"

The brunette ignored her. "It all starts with the lightning, then blood rain, fog, monkeys; that's the first four hours."

"At ten," Peeta said, speaking up as he pointed what seemed to be around the western part of the jungle. "That big wave heads from over there."

"Wiress, you're a genius." Finnick said again to the woman, who just smiled proudly at the praise.

"And the tail points to twelve." Katniss said again. "That's where the lightning strikes at noon and midnight."

"Where?" Beetee asked curiously.

"That big tree." She said as she pointed in the direction of a large tree, one that seemed to tower over the others.

"Good." The man said lowly, more to himself than anything.

"Hickory dickory dock." Wiress started to sing as she sat down on a rock at the edge of the island. "The mouse ran up the clock."

The group left her to her slight insanity aa Peeta started drawing a map of the arena in the wet sand. "So, twelve and one is lightning, then one to two is blood. Then fog. Then monkeys."

Katniss looked up at the three newest members of their group. "What about everything else? Did you guys see anything?"

Adrienne sighed before shrugging. "Red."

Johanna nodded, backing up her friend. "Nothing but blood."

"It's doesn't matter." Peeta said. "If we know which sector is acting, we'll be safe."

"Yeah." Finnick said. "Relatively speaking."

Just then, a gasp was heard. Everyone turned just in time to hear a cannon go off as Gloss knelt behind a now dead Wiress. Katniss immediately pulled back an arrow and let it fly right into the career's chest. This sprung everyone into action.

As a scream was heard, Adrienne turned and lifted her spear just in time to block Cashmere's potentially fatal blow. The District Four tribute lifted her foot and kicked the girl hard in the chest, flinging her back. A second later, she had an axe plunged into her chest and she fell to the stones, dead.

Adrienne turned her head with a smirk in Johanna's direction. "Thanks."

"Anytime, Odair." The girl teased before grabbing her axe and rushing off, going in the direction Katniss had gone. Not seeing any other option, the blonde girl followed close behind.

Before she could really catch up to the two girls before she felt the ground rumble beneath her feet. Before she could get her bearings, the rock island started to spin, and fast. Adrienne lost her footing and fell hard onto the slick rocks, forcing her to hang on for dear life.

Water whipped against her face as the island spun at a rapid pace. She felt her fingers getting numb and the rocks sliding out of her grip. In one breath, she was plunged into the water.

She flailed around, trying desperately to compose herself and get to the surface of the water. She opened her eyes and looked around the oddly still water. The fresh salt stung her eyes, but she didn't close them; what she saw in the water prevented her from doing so.

He seemed like a thousand crystals, or a shadow of mist, as he got closer to the girl. His face was the same as it was all those years ago; the same one that still occasionally plagued her nightmares.

Vern Everest.

Adrienne felt the tears come to her eyes. She knew this wasn't real. That he wasn't real. Vern was dead; he had been for years.

She couldn't help the heartbreaking scream that came out her lips, though it was muffled by the water. The girl felt as the water made its way into her mouth and down her throat in what seemed to be by the gallons.

The boy slowly reached forwards, brushing his ghostly hand across the girl's cheeks as she felt her eyes get heavy as they started to close, taking her into the darkness, with her dead friend being the last thing she saw.
