"Sans, I'm heading out on patrol. I'll be back around 8," I yelled to my husband from downstairs. In an instant he was downstairs standing in front of me.
"Can't you just stay here with me today", he asked wrapping his arms around me. "As much as I love seeing you in uniform, you're never home anymore."
"I know, I have a vacation coming up, I promise I won't leave the house during that", I said kissing his cheekbone.
He hummed contently and kissed me. "See you tonight sweetheart," he said letting me go.
I giggled and waved bye to him.
*Hours later*
Fell's P.O.V
I sat on the couch examining my wedding ring, I never liked seeing Y/n go on patrol. There was just too much that could go wrong, her leaving always made me think the worst.
She loved the job no matter how hard it got at times, that's one of the things I loved about her, she was strong.
Luckily that took my mind off her job and made me think of her, she was the best thing I had in the hell called life.
However my thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. It was probably another officer bringing paperwork or something.
I wish that's what it was. Instead it was two higher ranking officers both almost emotionless.
"Are you the husband of lieutenant Y/n," one of them asked. I nodded unable to speak, I knew what this was, something had happened to her.
"I'm sorry to inform you but your wife was injured in the field. We suggest you be there with her in case things turn out for the worst", he said solemnly.
I was in utter shock, Y/n. My Y/n. They handed me an address of the hospital she was in and I drove there as fast as I could.
A nurse told me where she was and I was beside her in an instant. It was horrible, laying in bed was her. Pale, bloody, weak. I've never seen her this way. I hoped I'd never have to.
Her breathing was incredibly shallow, if you didn't look carefully you couldn't even tell she was still alive. All the machines she was hooked up to was almost too much for me, and that's saying something since I've seen some messed up things in my life.
I couldn't hold the tears in anymore, I tried, I knew she'd want me to be strong. But seeing the woman you love on the brink of death makes that hard.
I didn't want to risk hurting her, the most I touched her was just to hold her hand, to feel her pulse.
"Excuse me sir", someone said making me slightly jump, I hadn't realized I had blocked out the rest of the world. It was the head doctor.
"Is-is s-she gonna live," I hated that my voice broke but I couldn't avoid it. "We're hoping for the best", he said calmly.
"That doesn't answer my question dammit", I growled. He just sighed and asked me if I wanted to know what happened to her, still avoiding my question.
I figured I might as well know so I went along with it. "Apparently while on patrol she was conducting a traffic stop and the driver apparently had drug paraphernalia in the car. Once she tried to investigate, he pulled a gun on her."
"She got hit in the chest and femoral arteries. The bullets didn't hit any important organs as far as we can see. She's mainly more at risk from the blood loss. She's lucky she made it to the hospital alive. The artery damaged can cause enough blood loss to kill someone in minutes." he finished.
