Horror x Owl Reader

"Dust, do you know what's going on with Horror," Nightmare asked. "I'm not sure but whatever it is it's really messing with him," Dust answered.

"How so," Nightmare added. "Well haven't you noticed he hasn't been fighting at his best. I asked his brother and he said he doesn't even enjoy hunting anymore," Dust explained.

That wasn't like him. Now since Horrortale is basically hell on Earth, or under Earth I guess, it was just getting to him.

He never let it bother him before but he's just sick and tired of it. All he had in the Underground was his brother, not much else.

And being a place like that, he was always paranoid. He never knew when someone would attack him, and if his brother was attacked and killed, well he'd have nothing left.

He was constantly scared that he'd go home and he'd be alone, those fears were just to much for him.

"Tell him to meet me in the throne room, I think I have something that may help him," Nightmare said before walking off.

Dust went to find Horror who was somewhere in the castle while Nightmare went to his room to retrieve his gift for Horror before heading to his throne.

A few minutes later Horror entered the room to see Nightmare with a large covered cage sitting beside him.

"You wanted to see me boss," Horror asked approaching the throne. "Yes. I have noticed that you haven't been your normal self lately," Nightmare said causing Horror to nod, kinda sadly.

"Well, I have something that may help you, she helped me through some of my tough times. She may help you," Nightmare said while walking to the cage.

That left Horror confused, 'she'. He went to stand beside Nightmare as he removed the cover, revealing a snow white owl with large, bright yellow eyes. Upon further inspection he noticed she had (f/c) tipped wings.

"This is Y/n. She was my pet and best friend back in Dreamtale," Nightmare explained opening the cage and stroking her right wing.

"She's pretty but what's with the colored wings. That's not normal," Horror asked. "Well she's not just any owl. She's magic. Ya see she can understand us. Isn't that right," Nightmare asked turning to her.

She lighted bowed her head as a response. "Of course head movements are her best way of responding, but she's good to talk to," he said allowing her climb onto his arm bone.

"She's good company. Try spending some time with her, talk to her. She helps," Nightmare said while she nuzzled the side of his skull.

He had Horror hold out his arm for her to perch on. Despite how intimidating Horror looked she flew right to him like she'd known him for years.

"Umm, hi Y/n," he said nervously eyeing the large bird on his arm. She let out a hoot and nuzzled his skull like she did Nightmare's, as her form of saying hi.

"Take care of her. She means a lot to me," Nightmare said petting the top of her head. "She'll be fine, I'll make sure of it," Horror responded.

After Nightmare explaining how to care for an owl Horror returned to his own au. "So since your a bird of prey, how would you like to try hunting with me," he ask earning a excited hoot from her.

"Ok, ok I'll take that as a yes. "Can you be a lookout for me," he asked and she bowed her head like she did in Nightmare's castle.

"Ok so, there's these weird deer monsters down here called Gyftrots. They make great prey. Can you fly up into one of the trees and call when you see one," as he finished she flew into a nearby tree and began her surveillance.

Not long after she let out a series of hoots telling Horror she'd found some. He ran to where he heard her calls and sure enough there was a gyftrot in a clearing.

Before the monster could see him Horror went and swung at it with his axe, hitting it in the head and killing it instantly.

Y/n flew down to perch on his shoulder while he drug his kill back home. After they had their fill of the deer Horror tried to communicate with her more.

He ended up explaining what had him so down and how Nightmare was right about how talking to her made him feel better. Not to mention he forgot how good it felt to hunt with a friend.

"Ya wanna go tell Nightmare about our kill," he asked while she flew back to his shoulder. He teleported them both to the castle.

Nightmare was pleased to here how they'd got along. And it seemed like Horror was returning to his normal self.

"Now, do you think you're ready to fight again," Nightmare asked. Horror knew about the planned attack on the Star Sanses but honestly hadn't cared till now.

"Yes, I'm ready. Should I leave Y/n here while we're gone," Horror asked. To that she puffed up and gripped his shoulder tighter.

"I'll take that as a no," Nightmare said, "let her come. She can fly out of danger if need be."

Her feathers smoothed back down, saying she was satisfied with his decision. Nightmare got the rest of the team together and began the attack in Dreamtale.

She was kinda enjoying watching the fight, at least until Horror was having trouble fighting the shorter blue Star Sans.

Seeing his trouble she flew in to dive at the Sans, she got him distracted so Horror could get his composure back.

She tried to flew back to her viewing spot but she was restrained by a yellow magic. She was pulled down and teleported away to be put in a cage.

The one who had locked her up was Nightmare's brother, Dream. She used to trust him, back when Nightmare was his old self, but now she was mad.

She tried to bust out by ramming herself again the cage door, but wasn't strong enough to do anything.

Back at the fight the Star Sanses fled and Horror was frantically trying to find her. Not only at the fact Nightmare would kill him, but that he legitimately liked having her around.

He wasn't gonna get anywhere without Nightmare's help if she was taken though. "Nightmare, I think they took Y/n during the fight. I think it was Dream. I need you to help me get her," Horror said scared Nightmare would blame him.

"If any of them did it, it would be Dream, he was worried about her after I was corrupted. Come on, this should be easy," Nightmare said teleporting to Dreamtale, Horror not far behind him.

Nightmare kept lookout while Horror went through Dreams castle trying to find her. He tried room after room and nothing.

He was afraid she was taken by someone else. He tried the last two rooms and was more than relieved to see her in the cage.

He used a sharpened bone to pry the cage door open and she flew out to his arm. "Come on let's get you out of here, we can deal with Dream later," Horror said running to find Nightmare so they could leave.

Yet when he found Nightmare he also found Dream. The two were definitely about to fight.

"Horror take her somewhere safe, I'll finish up here," Nightmare yelled while dodging Dream's first attack.

Horror immediately got both of them out of Dreamtale and back in Horrortale, then making sure she wasn't hurt.

"I'm so glad you're ok, you really worried me," Horror said rubbing under her beak. "How about we just relax for a bit," Horror asked.

She perched on his femur and leaning against his bottom of his ribcage. Even though she was nocturnal she allowed herself to sleep, showing how comfortable she was with him.

"Heh, I'll take that as a yes."
