Fresh x Hybrid Reader

"Hey Fresh, what do you wanna do today," I asked from my spot on the couch, bored out of my mind. "Dunno, anything's better than staying put all day though," he answered.

It's a hot summer day, it's beautiful outside, we shouldn't be inside all day. "You got anything in mind," he knew exactly what I wanted to do.

"You thinking what I'm thinking," we then simultaneously yelled "to the beach" then laughing for a good minute or two before actually getting ready.

We'd always seemed to share a brain, even when we first met. Even if we didn't meet under the best circumstances.

Being a hybrid, my life hasn't always been easy. During school people constantly picked on me for my features that showed what I was. They knew I wouldn't fight back.

I may be half monster but I didn't get magic, only appearance. Everyone took advantage of that and always said I shouldn't exist or how I was against the laws of nature.

They always tried to bully me and hurt me, but Fresh, who being a monster himself, began protecting me. When he was around no one would come near me, I will admit he is kinda intimidating when he's mad.

He told me he hated that I was being punished for something I couldn't help. And at that we became best friends and I was actually able to enjoy highschool.

Almost every weekend we did something together, typically we stayed in playing videogames or watching movies. But we did both like the beach so why not go today.

I changed into a t-shirt and basketball shorts and underneath I had on my bathing suit. I also ran a grabbed a bottle of sunscreen and a pair of sunglasses from my room before heading downstairs.

Fresh was already down there waiting on me. He already had on his swim trunks and a muscle tee. "Bout time, come on we should leave so we can get a good spot," he said while twirling his car keys around on his finger.

I smiled and rolled my eyes before racing him to his car. Of course he won, or cheated since he used magic. "You always cheat, can you actually race properly for once," I asked with fake anger in my voice.

"I'm not cheating, it's called using my resources," he said giving me cheeky smile over the roof of the car.

I laughed slightly and got into the passengers seat. Car rides with him we're always fun, we had a playlist with our favorite songs on it and sung the words wrong to get each other to laugh.

Not to mention he did look pretty cool driving. Sunglasses on and one hand on the wheel. I couldn't help but stare at times, even though he never seemed to notice.

We got to the beach and got out the car, taking in the ocean air. "You think you could beat me in a fair race," he said while locking his car. "Uh yeah", we began walking to the entrance to the beach.

"Alright first one to the water wins," he said when we reached the sand. I, being the competitive girl I am, agreed.

He did race fair, but I still lost. "See I don't even need magic," he said, being cocky as ever. "Ugh whatever, I'm gonna go get some water," I said walking towards a nearby surf shack.

He stayed back laying down towels and trying to figure out how to set up our umbrella. He insisted we find a spot right near the water but I'll be the one laughing when he gets hit by a wave.

I was standing in line for my bottle of water when I saw a group of guys from highschool. The ones who liked to bully me, of course it was, that's how it works.

I tried to stay away from them hoping that they wouldn't see me. I looked away from them, back at the water, but they must've recognized me.

"Hey guys look, it's that freak from school," the leader called out to the others. "And without her bodyguard at that, he finally realize you weren't worth it," he could see that his words had hurt me.

"No one here to help you now," he grabbed my arm and shoved me against a the side wall of the shack. He pulled his arm back, ready to hit me but someone was holding his arm back.

It was Fresh, thank the Lord. "I thought you would know better than to hurt her by now," Fresh growled. "Ha if if the principal wasn't an issue I woulda beat you both to a pulp in highschool," the guy laughed arrogantly.

He got away from me and used his other arm to try and hit Fresh, but Fresh hit him first. The guys lip began bleeding and he looked kinda shocked.

"Principal ain't here now, that means if you don't leave now you really ain't gonna like what happens next," remember when I said Fresh was kinda intimidating when he was mad, well I think that was kinda an understatement.

The guy tripped over his own feet trying to run away and his crew was already gone. Fresh came over to me, looking me over to make sure I wasn't hurt.

"Thank you Fresh," I said hugging him and trying to calm myself down. He hugged back and suggested we go try to chill out for a bit. I quickly grabbed my water and we walked back to our spot, not even bothering to race this time.

He was constantly looking around to make sure they didn't try to come back, even though they clearly wouldn't, unless they had death wish.

We relaxed, and I tried to get tan until the sun started to set. I suggested we take walk along the water, mostly so I could find some shells to take home. He agreed and we started walking.

While we were walking he was occasionally kicking water at me. So as revenge I poured what was left of my water on his head. I knew then I should run or else I was screwed.

I took off running, laughing at the same time. Of course I forgot it's hard to run in water. It didn't take him long to catch up to due to that.

He grabbed me by the waist and tossed me into the water. He stood at the edge of the water laughing his tailbone off. He walked over to help me up and I pulled him down into the water as well.

Unfortunately when I pulled him down he caught himself, leaning right over me. Without realizing it I leaned up to him, or was he leaning down to me, I'm not sure.

Either way my lips met his teeth and he moved one of his hands to hold my head, and keep me above the water, and his other to keep himself up. He pulled away blushing dark purple and trying to realize what he just did.

"I-I'm so sorry Y/n," he said helping me stand back up. "Fresh, don't be sorry. Heh...I didn't mind. Besides I'm the one who pulled you down," I said ringing out my hair.

He laughed sheepishly and put a hand on my shoulder, making me pull away. I was badly sunburnt, how did I not notice til now. "We should probably go home and get some aloe on that," he said grabbing my hand instead.

I nodded and we went and packed up our stuff and went back up to the car. We got in and I've never appreciated an air conditioner so much.

"Thanks for earlier Fresh, why were you up there anyway," I asked. "I was trying to give you this," he said pulling a small box out of his shorts pocket.

Inside was a ring with a band made to look like ocean waves and and f/c stone on the middle.

"Oh Fresh thank you, I love it. And I guess now's a good time to say, I love you," I said moving my hand to his on the center console.

"I love you too Y/n, and I don't care what those guys think about you, your amazing to me."

(I got a little carried away, I can't help it. The beach is my happy place)
