I oversleep slightly the following morning and have just enough time to throw on some clothes, put my hair into a messy bun, and grab my lunch bag on my way out of the door.
I knock on Jimin's door and he greets me with a smile before we walk to our children's literature class.
Luckily I had prepped my meals for today last night after my mom left. I pull out a glass container of overnight oats and begin eating them on the way.
"Late night yesterday?" he asks as he watches me dig in.
"No not really, my mom didn't stay too late. I just kinda snoozed my alarm a couple of times."
"Well Ms. Three day weekend, you won't have to worry about alarms for a few days."
"Very true. By the way, my mom says you were nice."
He smiles "I'm happy she could look past my pronunciations."
"Don't even worry about it. She was impressed that you were trying. And I was too considering it isn't a language you grew up with. How many languages do you speak again?"
"Wow thanks" he beams at me.
"And I speak three, well I can manage four. Fluent in Korean and English, obviously. Pretty decent at Japanese and can hold a more than basic conversation in Mandarin."
"Now I'll just teach you Spanish and you will be unstoppable."
"Please do" he beams at me.
We walk into the classroom and sit next to each other at our usual table by the window.

The lecture ends and I can rest easy knowing that I have the weekend off and can take a much needed break from my studies. I gather my belongings, notion to Jimin that I am ready, and we begin walking back to our apartments.
He nudges me with his elbow and asks "Hey, what are you doing this weekend?"
"I just plan on sleeping. What's up?"
"Let's go do something. The weather has been beautiful and I just want to be out and about and absorb as much sunshine as possible."
"What did you have in mind?" I ask enthusiastically.
"Let's go hiking at Griffith."
I can't help the huge grin that spreads across my face thinking about unwinding outdoors.
"Omg yeeeesss! I'll pack us a nice little picnic and if it's not too late after we can- wait." I groan.
"I just remembered Adam's spending the weekend at my place."
"Oh." He pauses before adding "Well just invite him, I don't mind."
I laugh nervously. "Well I wouldn't want it to be awkward and have you tag along as the third wheel. Besides I usually don't invite him when I hang out with my friends and vice versa. We both kinda prefer it that way."
"Jen I don't care. You two can do your own thing and I won't intrude. Honestly, I wouldn't have suggested it if I would feel uncomfortable."
I am silent for a moment, carefully selecting the proper phrases. "Yeah I know you don't mind but.. he's not really into hiking. And he doesn't like being in direct sunlight for too long. He's definitely more of a home body."
"Hmmm, he sure sounds like a lot of fun" he replies sarcastically.
I sigh. "Yeah he's really particular. And then he gets upset when I prefer going out with friends on the weekend instead of staying indoors with him. Plus he kinda doesn't like..."
We lock eyes and I start biting my lip not knowing how to continue.
Jimin smiles to himself. "I figured he doesn't like me."
"You know it's, it's nothing against you personally. He's just a bit jealous of you and thinks that we have been 'spending too much time together'." I roll my eyes and make air quotes around the last part.
"I've explained to him that it's only because you live next door and you are in my class! No matter how I phrase it, I can't get it through his stubborn, jealous brain. I don't know... I guess he just imagines we are having sex on a pile of notes and not studying."
We both chuckle nervously and I mentally slap myself for saying that outloud. I quickly shake away the inappropriate images that are threatening to form in my mind.
"Okay what about we just go get Boba tonight?" He asks and brings me back into reality.
"Yum! Taro slush sounds so good right now."
At this point we have made it back to the apartment and are standing outside my door.
"Cool, let's meet up at 8 then."
"Okie doke artichoke. I'll see ya later."
