We all easily spend two hours just talking, getting to know one another, and sharing our experiences in South Korea, and specifically Busan.
I am definitely enjoying spending time with my coworkers so far. They are all incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. Despite coming from different walks of lives with diverse upbringings, we all get along well. Since most of us came here without knowing anyone, we have bonded over the past weeks and formed our own TTS family.
After some time most people have trickled out, either heading back home to rest or getting ready for a night out.
Now, only Jungkook and I remain and we are in the midst of a conversation about ASMR. I explain that I find it slightly uncomfortable just staring at someone on the screen, yet, he is trying to convince me of the science behind it.
"Jen you would understand if you experienced the tingles."
"Well unfortunately I don't so it's a bit awkward watching it. I am not judging you though. I get that it's really calming. Hey, maybe I just haven't found the kind that is right for me, ya know? If there are a subset of videos of just people making sounds, where they don't talk, and I can't see their faces, then maybe I can give it another try."
"I can literally name five channels with that exact niche."
"I'm all ears for your recommendations."
He leans in, pulls up a few videos on his phone, and shows them to me.
These were definitely easier to watch since I did not have someone staring back at me. The lack of talking also made it more enjoyable.
"Maybe I can get into this," I add, taking note of the channel names.
Jungkook pauses the video and lets out a lazy yawn.
I giggle besides him.
"On that note, I am getting sleepy just talking about this. Wanna head back?" He sets a few bills on the table and slides on his backpack.
"I think Ima stay here for a little while longer. The landlord is fixing the wifi in my building but I need to facetime my mom so I wanted to call her from here."
"Nice! Have fun catching up with her."
"Thanks."
"I'll see you Monday, Jen," he smiles and the sunlight streaming in through the window lights up his big, beautiful eyes.
"See you Jungkook!" I reply and fail at not peeking as he walks away.
Okay maybe I think he's cute! I am definitely not going to say or do anything about it though.
Laughing to myself, I slip my laptop and earphones from my bookbag.
I briefly browse Twitter before I type in my mom's phone number.
"Hokshi.." a small voice approaches me.
I look up from my laptop screen at the blue haired girl, from earlier, before me.
"Oh hello," I smile at her.
"Hi, are you all done? Can the dishes be picked up?" she asks.
"Yes that would be great. Actually.. I might be here for a little while longer. Could I possibly have another cup of iced green tea?"
"Of course, I will get that for you."
She signals towards one of the employees behind the counter and he promptly clears and cleans the tables. Meanwhile, she disappears into the kitchen area.
I click on the contact, and resume where I left off prior.
After a minute of failed connection, I end the call.
I redial and she still does not answer.
I almost begin to worry and think about texting my sister when I start calculating the time. It's 6pm here which means it's... 2am in LA. Whoops. I'll just call her tomorrow morning.
This, when I had begun feeling confident with my timezone conversion.
In that moment, the girl returns with a tall glass of beautifully hued tea.
"Iced green tea," she announces and sets it down beside me.
"Thank you so much."
I reach out to grab the glass when I suddenly remember, "Wait, I completely forget to pay for this. Sorry, I'll go to the register right now."
I shake my head as I reach into my purse for my wallet.
Before I can stand, the young girl holds her hands up and shakes them slightly "Ah no, don't worry. Gwaenchanha, Jen unni."
My eyes shoot open and I stare at her in bewilderment.
Wait. Do I know her? More importantly, does she know me?
"Umm excuse me?" I croak in disbelief.
She smiles timidly. "Um I don't think you remember. It's me, Park Sunhi."
{A/N: Sunhi is Ryujin from ITZY! She's so freaking pretty and I have a giant crush on her. Can we talk about that blue bob?!? Chef's kiss! 💙💙💙}
{A/N Part 2: Just an fyi that I'm not shading ASMR at all. I actually watch it every single night to go to sleep so I'm pretty much Kookie in this scenario! Lols.}
