It's 7:42pm and I was putting on my earrings and finishing getting ready.
I managed to get all my cleaning done in a little over two hours. The apartment was all tidied up and I even had time to cook up some vegan gumbo for dinner. After eating I fought the urge to enter a food coma and instead hopped in the shower for a quick rinse. I did not need to wash my hair that night so I left my hair up in a messy bun. I picked out a pair of black high waisted jeans, an oversized black and white striped tee, which I tucked into my pants, and paired them with my black loafers.
I knew it was still early but Jimin was usually ready before our set meet up times so I figured I would go to his apartment now.
I grab my faux leather jacket as I step out of the apartment and walk the five feet to his door.
I ring the doorbell and after a couple seconds I hear his voice. "I'll be there in a minute."
He opens the door and greets me with a beaming smile. "Hey Jen!"
I notice his hair is still wet from showering. He runs a hand through his hair and pushes it back. I gulp noticing how attractive he looks with freshly cleansed skin and damp locks.
My face suddenly feels ten degrees warmer and a salmon blush spreads across my cheeks.
"Heyyyyy! I can umm come back later if you uhhh aren't ready yet?"
"No I just need to put on my shoes and I'll be set. Come inside."
I stand in the living room and hear his voice from the bedroom. "I swear I'll be ready in two minutes.""No worries. I know I'm early."
I take this time to look around his apartment. This was my first time inside as I only got a glimpse of the entryway from the outside. His style is fairly minimal with many neutral tones and patterns. What stood out to me more than his decorations were his tidiness habits. His apartment itself was not dirty nor did it have a bad smell. I could tell that he cleaned regularly, as noted by the lingering detergent scent. It was more so that he maybe did not put things away immediately after using them. There were shoes scattered on the floor instead of on the rack two feet away. I noticed a few dishes in the sink and it appeared as though his garbage could benefit from being emptied.
I smile to myself as I find his slight messiness cute.
Jimin walks out of the bedroom with his hair semi slicked back, preserving that wet look, and slips into his Oxfords.
He is dressed in a loose, black t-shirt tucked into black jeans.
Without thinking my eyes trail up and down his body- twice- and he obviously notices.
He smirks at me and says coyly "You look nice too, let's go."
I bite my lip and hold back a laugh. "Sorry I didn't mean to stare. It's just that you look all dapper to go for boba."
"Oh this? I am casual tonight."
I chuckle at his comment and we begin the ten minute walk to the boba shop.
We enter the shop and I quickly find a table as it is semi empty. We order our drinks: a taro slush for myself and he sticks to the traditional Thai tea with boba. We make small talk and then he asks "Have you done anything fun in the last hours since I've seen you?"
"Haha, nope. I just cleaned and cooked some gumbo. Nothing too exciting."
Just then I see a woman get up to use the restroom. She knocks on the door and asks "is anyone in there?" before entering.
This immediately triggers the moment earlier with Adam and my expression drops slightly. Jimin picks up on this and asks, "Hey you okay? You can order another taro slush if you want?"
I shake my head. "It's not that. I just remembered something from when Adam called earlier."
"Oh I'm sorry. Did he say something?"
"No it's just that he's so- you know what. I am having a good time and I am not trying to overanalyze everything. It's nothing honestly." I force a smile.
"Okay then." he replies softly, clearly not convinced but understanding that I did not want to discuss the topic further.
We finish our drinks, and much to my protest he pays the bill, and we head back home.
"Are you tired?" he asks as we are entering the building.
I look down at the time and it isn't even 10pm yet. "I mean I didn't nap earlier like a certain someone but I'm pretty energized." I tease.
He grins and adds "Let's watch a movie. I have snacks and not to brag but my couch is super comfortable, I've fallen asleep there a few times after long nights of studying."
Before I respond he interjects "Wait... if you are not comfortable with that plan we can also just go to your place. I'm sure your couch is pretty great too!"
In that moment I think about Adam and how much he would nag at me once he found out I was inside Jimin's apartment for an extended period of time. A part of me knew it would cause unnecessary drama but the other part just wanted to spend a chill Friday night watching movies before finals picked up.
"No it's totally fine, let's go." I say and we head into his apartment.
