Years After - Continues (Completed)

21 - Dad Daniel's POV

Althea starts avoiding Harold after their talk. The usual 'good morning' and 'good evening' plus the numerous 'I love you' messages from the latter did not stop even she deliberately drops all of his calls.

Althea and Thirdy has been into a long distance relationship, too, but Althea realized that she never felt to Harold the longings she felt for Thirdy when they were together. She could no longer remember how many restless days and sleepless night she had whenever Thirdy failed to keep in touch. There was even a time when she thought of giving up and just went back and continued her studies in the Manila.

Now that she is back in Manila, she already felt complete and peaceful. She loves Thirdy still and actually she never stops loving him in her own way. Her decision to accept Harold is her way of moving-on about Thirdy and Rebecca.

At first, she denied that Harold was a rebound. She would like everyone to think that she already accepted her fate that Thirdy and her are destined to be best of friends only. He chose Harold among the other guys vying for her attention because he was always there for her. He made sure to be at her said everytime she needs someone to talk to. Harold was her shoulder to cry-on when things get rough with her and Thirdy. Harold never leaves her that way why she thought that his presence can compensate her longings for Thirdy.

She wants Harold not to push through with his transfer to MGOC Main Office. But she also wants him to fly to Manila to have a heart-to-heart talk to him and finally end whatever they have now. She loves Harold, because he was always with her. But she knows she does not love him deeply as much as she loves Thirdy. Whether Thirdy is around or not, the intensity of love she has for him does not change. But with Harold, her feeling is different. Their thousand miles distance made her realize that her life can still go on even without Harold, unlike with Thirdy.

"Knock ... knock..." she heard someone said.

"Hello, Dad. Please come in." Althea said.

"Ang lalim naman ng iniisip mo, baby, hindi mo man lang namalayan na kanina pa ako nakatayo dito sa may pinto. Nahihirapan ka ba sa pinapagawa kong report?" Daniel asked.

"Hindi naman, Dad. I am just thinking of a better way to present it." Althea replied.

"That's nice but no need to do it now. Just present it based on the report template. We may think of a better way to present it next time. Let's not confuse the President now." Daniel said.

"If that's the case, okay na ako, Dad. I'll send you the draft for your comments." Althea uttered.

"Impressive. Mukhang nasa mood kang mag-work ngayon ah unlike the previous days. Let's me guess. Dahil ba malapit nang dumating ang Daddy Victor mo, kasama si Harold?" Daniel asked but Althea did not comment and just shook her head. "Are you excited to work with Harold again? Mukhang in-love na in-love talaga sa iyo eh, imagine he did not stop until his request for transfer was approved." Daniel added.

"That reminds me, Dad. Since the Human Resource Department is under your group, may I ask you something about Harold's request for transfer?" Althea asked.

"Go ahead, ask me whatever you want." Daniel replied.

"Why was his first request of transfer got denied?" Althea asked.

"First, he is holding his current position for less than a year. Technically we cannot assess an Area Manager's performance in that short period of time. Second, the sales of the branches in the three countries he under his supervision decreases by a significant percentage. The HRD would like to give him a chance to bounce back and he cannot do that if we allow that his transfer to Manila." Daniel explained.
