24 - Trap

Victor arrived as scheduled and Althea wonders why she was invited by her parents for a talk in the library. Mr. President just landed and immediately after dinner she was informed that she should join Victor and Laura plus Daniel and Allie for a discussion in the library.

The four seems having an argument when she enters the library. "Pinatawag mo daw ako, Daddy?" she asked upon entering the library.

"Come in Althea. There is something I would like to discuss with you." Victor said.

"This talk seems very serious. Is this about Mamita? Is she all right?" Althea asked.

"No this is not about Mamita. Mama is fine though she misses you so much." Victor replied.

"So what is it that you want to talk about, Daddy?" Althea asked.

"How was your first week back in MGOC?" Victor asked.

"It was not easy but not difficult either. I just need to update myself with the changes on our policies and procedures, especially in branches outside the country. But Dad Daniel and Tita Alice were always there to help me." Althea said.

"And I have to commend you for doing a good job. I heard positive feedback on your first week at work. Good job, Althea Marie." Victor said.

"Thanks, Daddy." Althea replied.

"You are aware that Harold fly with me in Manila, right?" Victor asked.

"Yes, Dad Daniel told me about that." Althea said.

"And according to Daniel you have reservations on Harold's transfer here in Manila." Victor said. "I want to know your thoughts, Baby. Nagtaka rin kasi ako why did you not discuss with me about Harold's request for transfer? You know that he does not need to file a request basta lang sabihin mo sa akin." Victor said while Laura, Daniel and Allie listen.

"The whole MGOC knows who Harold is to me. I don't want them the think that he will get special treatment just because we were together." Althea replied.

"I am happy to hear that, Althea Marie. I know hindi mo gagamitin ang position mo sa business for your personal stuffs." Laura replied.

"I don't want Harold get higher position just because of my influence. It would be unfair to other deserving employees." Althea replied.

"If that is the case, then why did you recommend Harold to take over your position as Area Manager for Italy, Germany and Switzerland?" Victor asked.

Althea could not answer Victor as she knows when the discussion is heading to. When she decided to settle in Manila and accepted her promotion as Deputy for Operations Group, it was Harold whom she considers to take over her position. She believes that she has fully trained him so he is ready to assume the Area Manager Position. But after three months the sales on all the branches in the three countries under his turf has a 3% slide from the previous quarter.

"Dad, if this is about the 3% down in sales for branches in Italy, Germany and Switzerland, I sincerely apologized. I was not able to properly supervised Harold on his first three months as Area Manager because I got busy on my transfer to Manila." Althea said.

"You don't have to apologize, Baby. Harold has been working with you for more than a year already. You don't need to supervise him on his first three months holding the position." Victor said.

"I still feel that I am responsible with the slide of the sales since I was the one who recommends Harold to take over my position." Althea replied.

"Why did you recommend Harold to replace you as Area Manager, Baby? Sabi mo kanina, you don't want to use you influence to get higher position in the company. Perhaps you have a valid reason why you choose him." Allie asked.
