42 - We Are Pregnant

Maybe due to her current condition, Althea mostly prefers to be alone. She is not as vibrant as before. After work she will stay in her art room and stays there until she hits the bed.

During weekend, from waking up in the morning she goes straight to her art room and only comes out if it is time to eat with her family. Victor and Laura are already worried at Althea's current behavior. For several days they choose to wait for Althea to open up but it seems she does not have plan to tell them what is going on.

Thirdy as well, is worried at Althea. She is not the usual cheerful Althea Marie that he knows. Althea mostly was not in the mood to go out. She has turned down several of Thirdy invitation for dinner or a short visit out of town. After their last talk, Thirdy choose to respect Althea's decision to inform her parents about her present condition without him. But several days had pass and the truth has not been told to the Monteiros.

"Thirdy, good afternoon. May lakad ba kayo ni Althea?" Laura asked Thirdy one weekend.

"Wala po, Tita Laura, bibisitahin ko lang po kasi wala daw po syang ganang lumabas." Thirdy said.

"Does she know you are coming today?" Laura asked.

"I told her I am coming pero hindi ko po nasabi sa kanya kung anong oras." Thirdy replied.

"May I talk to you, Thirdy? I only need few minutes of your time." Laura said.

"No problem po, Tita Laura. About what po?" Thirdy asked.

"Get inside and follow me to the library," Laura said before she walks inside the house. Thirdy got nervous as he knows that only serious matters are being discussed in the library.

As soon as Laura and Thirdy get in the library the former immediately locks the door and straightly asked Thirdy, "Thea is acting weird these days and we are not happy about it. Tell me honestly, what is going on, Thirdy?"

"Tita, hindi nyo pa po ba nakakausap si Althea?" Thirdy asked.

"I keep on asking her, but she keeps on saying that she is okay but we see otherwise. Laging nakakulong sa art room, at halos wala nang kinakausap dito sa bahay. We also noticed that she is loosing weight." Laura said.

"Tita, I'm sorry but Althea told me that she will be the one to tell you about her condition." Thirdy uttered.

"About her condition? What condition are you talking about, Thirdy. May sakit ba ang anak ko?" Laura asked and started to panic.

"Tita, please calm down." Thirdy said.

"Calm down? How can I calm down if you my daughter is sick." Laura said in a louder voice.

"Tita, Althea is not sick .... Technically," Thirdy uttered.

"Can you be more specific, Thirdy? Napipikon na ako sa paligoy-ligoy mo," Laura fiercely said while looking sharply to Thirdy.

"I honestly don't know why until now hindi pa rin nya sinasabi sa inyo. We agreed na sya ang magsasabi sa inyo even I offered na samahan sya sa inyo when she decided to tell the truth." Thirdy said, trying to explain.

"I said stop going around the bush, Thirdy." Laura said and was not able to control herself to hardly tap the table. "What is going on?" she further asked.

"I hope you inderstand, Tita Laura, I want to tell you the truth but I don't want to break my promise to Althea. Can you please give me a little time to convince her now to tell you the truth?" Thirdy firmly replied. "I will try my best to convince her to tell you about her condition." He further said.

Laura calms down after hearing Thirdy's request as she realized that she should be confronting Althea about it and not Thirdy. "Okay, but if you do not convince her to tell us tonight about what's going on with her, you will be the one to tell us about her condition. If not, you will not be allowed to come in this house ever again. To tell you frankly, I already have a hunch on what is going on with her, but Victor and I decided to wait for her to tell us the reason why she is acting weird these pass few days. And we could not understand why she is keeping it from us," Laura threatens.
