Chapter 22: Hearing

"I'm not sure I understand," Taehyung slowly asks as he and Jin walk down the hallway towards Hoseok's office. Jungkook left them shortly after, saying he had something to do. Probably just didn't want to be seen together with Taehyung.

"I don't know either, he just came into the room and told me to go find you. I don't know why it has to be you specifically if it's about a new kid joining?" Jin almost asks himself. They keep walking down the hall, talking about different possibilities.

They reach Hoseok's office and walks inside. Immediately, they spot the back of a boy sitting with his face towards a smiling Hoseok.

"Oh boys, you're here!" He cheers and stands up. First now, the boy in front of him realizes there's someone behind him.

And with good reason.

As he turns his head, Taehyung's eyes widen slightly at the sight.

The boy is wearing hearing aids. Indicating that he either has hearing problems or is completely deaf. He has nice dark-brown hair, a very soft yet masculine featured face. He seems very cute and right when he sees the two others, he smiles brightly.

He stands up and walks towards them. Immediately, he starts using sign language, probably excited to know if Hoseok really was talking the truth about others knowing it.

Jin and Taehyung give each other a small smile before signing to the boy. His eyes almost sparkle with excitement.

"See, I was telling the truth! Guys, this is Bogum, he's new at this school. And as you have probably figured, he's deaf," Hoseok explains, both with words and signs. Taehyung's mouth opens in an 'o' shape before he returns attention to the other.

"So, you're deaf?" he asks. Bogum sighs slightly with a smile, nodding his head.

"Yeah... are you too?" he questions.

Taehyung shakes his head gently before lifting his hand. He moves it around over his mouth, motioning that he's mute. Bogum gulps slightly. It's very rare to be mute, often it's caused by trauma or abuse. He doesn't question it though and smiles.

"It's nice meeting you," he says. He seems like a really kind and down to earth guy. Most people with handicaps like this are down to earth since they don't really talk that much... you know.

After a bit more talking, Hoseok instructs Jin and Taehyung to lead Bogum to his room. For now, he'll be rooming alone until there's another potential student who joins the school.

Taehyung and Bogum fall into a huge conversation about sign language and the struggles of having a handicap. Jin walks behind them, a little offended about being left out of their silent conversation.

They are both laughing by now. They can relate a lot to each other. When they get to his dorm, they sit down and start talking about life and what's great and not so great about it.

Jin sighs and leaves them to it. Taehyung isn't open with many people, but he's glad to see that that's not the case when the other people actually know 'his' language.

"And you know, when people wants to talk with you or sit with you on the bus, it's just the best excuse!" Bogum jokes, making Taehyung double over with laughter.

"And the fact that the teacher can't pick you to talk in class, it's so easy to get through lessons!" Taehyung comments with a smile. Bogum agrees quickly and starts explaining how he's still struggling though, but that's because he's lazy.
