Caitlin pov
After the whole 'Nora loosing her shit' incident, Dawn has made it her mission to not leave my side and even though it's sweet, it is also driving nuts!
"Dawn can I just have a little bit of space?" I asked working on some labs reports inside my lab.
"Right, I'll go check on Dad and see what he is up to" Dawn smiled walking away.
I let a sigh of relief and leaned back in my chair
"Hey Caitlin" Iris said hesitantly walking inside my lab.
"Hi" I greeted back focusing on my paperwork
"I just wanted to apologize and bury the hatch between us" she sighed.
"What Nora did to you was not okay but she was mad at her sister for rejecting her own mother" Iris half-heartedly apologize.
"Excusing Nora's behavior doesn't sound like an apology Iris" I said glancing at her before standing up from my chair.
"Look Caitlin I really don't want to fight with you anymore, it is absolutely exhausting to stay mad at you when we're co-workers" Iris said following me out of my lab.
"I don't see any reason why you should be mad at me, I haven't done anything wrong" I claimed matter-of-fact.
"You're right you didn't. I'm sorry I let my stubbornness and impulsive nature determine my behavior" Iris replied grabbing my upper arm to keep me from walking any further.
"I accept your apology Iris. If it makes you feel any better. Dawn does love you and respects you a lot" I said looking at her.
"Really? She said that?" Iris asked hopeful.
"Of course. She says you're one of the most bad-ass reports in the future" I reassured sweetly.
"Thank you Caitlin and I'm sorry again for everything" she says looking at me with a hint of guilt in her eyes.
"Don't worry about it" I shrugged walking away from her.
Nora hasn't been around S.T.A.R labs since the incident.
Dawn told me Barry is keeping her from coming as a punishment for her behavior.
"Dad was absolutely furious with Nora." Dawn commented and I frowned feeling bad for Nora.
"Maybe I should talk to your dad" I offered.
"Mom stop! She deserves what she got for hurting you" she reassured.
"Dawn she is still your sister. You wouldn't want her judging you over one mistake" I said.
"I'm still mad at her, I can't believe she would actually put hands on you, she better be lucky I didn't freeze her hands off" she said bitterly.
"Don't say that!" I scold shaking my head.
"You're my mother! The wonderful souls who gave me life! How can I not be mad at Nora for endangering your life! Without you I am nothing! And I also mean that literally" she argued.
"You're over exaggerating Dawn. I regenerate due to my powers remember?" I said.
"Is still a risk she shouldn't have been willing to take so deliberately." She said.
"Dawn" I argued weakly.
"Stop defending her mom!" She said angrily.
"Suddenly everyone prefers Nora over me. I mean come on? Why does it have like this all the time? You guys always do this! Letting Nora off the hook. Why can't someone just be on my side for once!" She yelled angrily.
It was so sudden that it took me by surprised.
"Dawn" I whispered softly trying to reach for her
"No! I'm sick of it!" She yelled pulling away from me.
"Dawn please" I tried approaching her again.
"I'm your daughter! You're suppose to have my side not hers!" She said a few tears running down my face.
"Dawn of course I do–" I tried before we were both interrupted.
"Daughter?" Barry asked and both Dawn and I froze in fear
No one utter a word and the silence was overwhelming
"Is anyone gonna talk?" Barry argued more sternly.
"Barry..." I whispered unable to meet his eyes.
"Is this what you've hiding from me?" Barry asked his tone sharp as a knife.
I stuttered unable to say a word
"Say something!" He said angrily making me jump at his tone. He has never yelled at me.
"I'm sorry" I whispered.
"Oh my god" he said rubbing a hand through his hair in frustration.
"Dad" Dawn whispered
"You've been lying to me all this time! Both of you!" He said hurt looking between the both of us.
"Barry" I said walking towards him.
"Don't Caitlin! Why would you keep this from me? Dawn is your daughter?" He said incredulously.
"I'm both your daughter" Dawn clarified.
"Dawn you're not helping" I sighed.
"What? I'm tired of lying mom! Lying to dad, lying to Auntie Iris!" She said her voice filled with emotion.
"I just want my parents!" She cried
"This is too much! I gotta go!" Barry said shaking his head and speeding away.
I hear Dawn's distant sob and turn towards her kneeling and grabbing her hands.
"You're my daughter and I will always choose you over anything or anyone" I said pulling her close to me.
"I'm sorry for overreacting" she said hugging me tighter.
"It's okay, I'm sorry for making you feel like I was choosing Nora over you. I'm sorry if I made you like I was attacking you" I said softly.
"No I've just been overwhelmed with everything. Auntie Iris just had me on edge. On top of that trying to keep you and dad a secret has been extremely stressful. At least now I don't have to hide it anymore. But the bad thing is that dad didn't seem to take the news too well" she said.
"I need to go check on your dad, are you going to be okay?" I asked.
"Yeah you can take care of dad! I love dad but he is really intimidating when he wants to be" she said.
"Yeah right! Barry is a big softy! He can't be intimidating even if wanted to" I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah I'll let you handle that" he patted my back.
*********
I couldn't find him anywhere in S.T.A.R labs.
Well if I can't find him here, then his day job beckons.
Wish me luck....
