Ch 23

Barry's pov
"Okay let me see if I got it. Your name is Iris. Your name is Nora. Your name is H.R. Your name is Ralph. Your name is Dawn. Your name is Joe. Your name is Cecile. And umm-errrr-ahh shoot I keep forgetting your name I'm really sorry" Caitlin said pointing at each one of us until her gaze meets Older me.
"That's okay Caitlin. It's Henry" he lied glancing at me.
"Right sorry. So Barry and Henry" she said pointing at me and older me.
"You're doing great Cait-tttlin" I stuttered saying her full name.
"Thanks Barry" she said softly turning to stand next to Cisco while giving him a genuine smile.
She's been glued to Cisco these past couple of days. Wherever Cisco goes Cait follows.
I think part of the reason has to do with the fact that he's the only one she remembers. So being with him gives her reassurance and a peace of mind.
"See Caitlin you did great" Cisco said rubbing her shoulder comforting.
"I guess but I still have no clue what you guys mean to me. You guys are still total strangers" she said huffing in frustration.
"Don't be so harsh on yourself. You'll remember! I have faith in you" Older me said approaching Cait to stand closer to her
"Thank you Henry" she said smiling at him softly before turning towards the rest of us.
"Thank you ALL for trying to help me. You guys have been nothing but kind to me and I'm really grateful" she said in gratitude.
"We're family Caitlin. We always have each other's back" I said and she gave me an awkward smile.
A second went by before yellow lighting entered the room startling everyone.
"Wally!" Iris smiled happily walking toward her little brother for an embrace.
"What the hell!" Caitlin exclaimed in panic and shock.
"Hey Caitlin!" Wally waved innocently giving her a warm smile.
"Did he just-how could-that's not-" she stuttered looking at Wally dumbfounded.
"What's wring with Caitlin?" Wally asked unaware of her current state.
"She sort of lost her memory" Joe spoke.
"What? How?" Wally asked furrowing his eyebrows.
"A meta attack" I explained quickly.
"Is anyone going to explain to me what the hell I just saw?" Caitlin spoke sternly.
"Uh-right so Caitlin. We didn't want to rush you into anything and that's why we didn't tell you" Cisco explained.
"Tell me what?" She asked looking at Cisco
"The Particle Accelerator explosion released chemicals that gave people 'abilities'. We call them meta humans" Cisco elaborated.
"That's crazy! I-why- do I have 'abilities'?" She asked in concern.
No one said anything.
"Is that why I survived falling 600 feet?" She pushed grabbing Cisco's arm to get his attention.
"No you didn't get your powers from the accelerator" Cisco said truthfully.
"Okay so I'm not a meta human?" She asked.
"You are a meta human Cait" I sighed in defeat not being able to lie to her any longer
"Wh-what? Cisco just said the particle accelerator didn't give me 'abilities'. How am I a meta?" She asked looking at Cisco.
"He's right. The accelerator didn't give you your powers. That's because you were born a meta" I explained.
"Barry are you out of your mind? I would know if was BORN a meta human" she laughed humorously.
"Well you didn't until a few years ago. You have cold powers" I explained.
"So what? I can freeze stuff? That's crazy! Are you guys playing a joke on me because it is mostly definitely not funny. Planking someone who lost her memory is rude and cruel" she said giving me a pointed look
"I'm not pranking you Cait. Everything I just said is true. You have to believe me" I said looking at her pleadingly.
"How can I? I don't even know you Barry? I don't trust you!" She said visibly upset.
"Cisco take me home. I need some sort normalcy that doesn't include a speeding streak or powers" she said angrily walking out of the lab.
"Caitlin!" I called after her walking her direction.
"Barry give her some time man it's a lot to take in" Cisco said placing a hand on my shoulder to keep me from walking after her.
"She's right Barry. It must all be overwhelming for her. We're strangers to her" Iris said comfortingly rubbing my back with a small frown. A frown that everyone in the room shared.
"I can't just let her walk out like that" I said running a hand through my hair in frustration.
"I'll go after her" Cisco reassured and I sighed in defeat nodding my head in agreement.
"Okay" I whispered before Cisco walked out.
I turned around to see everyone standing there feeling as helpless as me.
"What are we gonna do?" Joe asked rubbing his temples.
"I don't know" I said honestly.
"Dad" Dawn said alarmingly turning her face towards older me.
I look at her to try and see what she was so panicked about before she was starting to disappear right in front of us.
"Dad I'm disappearing!" She said in panic
"Speedy!" Older Barry exclaimed helplessly walking towards her.
"Dawn?" Nora exclaimed her voice cracking with tears in her.
"I don't wanna go. I don't wanna go" Dawn sobbed.
"I love you speedy I'll get you back I promise" Older me cried
"I love you. FlashFrOst forever and always" she cried and Older me try to reach for Dawn before she vanished
"DAWN!" He yelled desperately
"Oh my gosh! She's gone! She's gone" Nora cried as Iris held her in her arms.
I blinked rapidly trying to proceed what I just saw.
Dawn is gone...
