Caitlin pov
"Call me if you need anything okay?" Barry asked once we were walking up my home entrance.
"I will thank you" I smiled even though it was dark out.
"Okay I'll see you tomorrow. I probably have a fuming hangry Iris waiting for you her food right about now" Barry joked looking at his watch.
"Sorry about ruining your date night" I apologize feeling horrible that he had to leave her.
"No worries. Meta humans don't have a call time. I'm just glad no one got hurt" he smiled.
"Oh frak. I forgot about Liam!" I gasped face palming myself and pulling out my phone out before I feel Barry pull me softly behind me shielding me from something in front of him.
"Who the hell are you!?" Barry asked at the shadow in my front step.
"Barry!? Oh thank heavens! Is Caitlin with you?" The voice exclaimed desperately.
"Liam!?" I asked softly recognizing his voice almost immediately.
"Caitlin?" Liam exclaimed relief stepping stepping forward towards the dim light my house provided.
"It's okay Barry" I reassured placing my hand on his upper arm to walk forward and he nodded in agreement stepping away.
"Oh gosh Caitlin I was so worried. I-I never saw the Flash take you out. I was looking for you everywhere and I couldn't find you" he said quickly pulling in for a hug and I groaned in pain at the pressure on my wound. He quickly let go of me to inspect me.
"What happened!?" He exclaimed softly grabbing my arm.
"Be careful. She has stitches" Barry spoke sternly as Liam touched my arm.
"Right. Sorry" He spoke quickly letting go of my arm and looking at Barry with a slight glare which Barry happily returned.
"Do you need me to take you to a hospital or I can take you to my doctor" Liam offered kindly.
"Liam I'm okay. I promise. Plus Barry already did" I said smiling at him in gratitude.
"Of course he did" Liam said almost bitterly.
"How did he even know where you were?" Liam asked in hushed whispers.
"I called him" I lied quickly.
"Well the Flash did get me out of the meta attack. But he dropped me off at this odd location and I didn't know where I was. So I borrowed someone's phone and called Barry so he could pick me up" I lied yet again and Liam nodded in disappointment.
"Why didn't you call me? I was so worried" he spoke softly stroking my cheek tenderly and I awkwardly smiled knowing Barry was still silently watching behind me.
"Uh well Barry and I are friends and I was bleeding and I guess the first person I could think of was him...so I called him" I lied to him even though deep down I knew I wasn't lying.
"We're friends" he reasoned.
"We are Liam. We are friends" I assured grabbing his hand in a friendly manner.
"But you just trust him more" he concluded.
"I-I-it's just-" I stuttered failing miserably to deny his statement
"I get it Caitlin. Don't worry. He means a lot to you I can tell" he states looking up at Barry briefly before looking down at me.
"He does" I replied softly.
"And you do too. I care about all of my friends and I'm sorry I didn't call you. A lot happened and I think between the meta attack and bleeding out. I was just freaked out. But it's still no excuse for not calling you to let you know I was okay and I'm sorry I had you worried all this time" I apologized sincerely.
"Let's try to have a normal dinner next time" he joked trying to lighten up the tension between us.
"I would really like that. Maybe Cisco can come. He's my lucky charm" I offered lightheartedly.
"He always was" he agreed chuckling.
"Uh Barry. Thank you for taking care of her. I appreciate it mate" Liam spoke pulling away from me and I took a step back towards Barry.
"Always" he said softly looking down at me with a soft smile placing one of his hand around my shoulder and rubbing it gently in comfort. I smiled thankfully.
"I'm just glad she's okay so thank you for making sure she was" Liam said taking his hand out for Barry to shake. Barry leaned over me and shook his hand firmly. There exchange was quiet and neither let go and silently exchange intense glares instead.
"Uh well I'm extremely exhausted. You should rest too Liam. It was an eventful day to say the least" I spoke which made them both look at me.
"You're right. I need to get back to Iris. Call me if you need anything Cait okay?" Barry said turning towards me with seriousness but also softness in his voice.
"You know I will. Thank you Barry" I smiled as he pulled me in for a hug and kissed my forehead.
"Good night" he whispered.
"Bye man. Uh-I'm glad you're okay" Barry spoke up towards Liam.
"Thanks mate" Liam said coldly.
"See you tomorrow" Barry smiled at me before walking away.
"I'll check on you first thing in the morning okay?" Liam whispered softly kissing my forehead and embracing tenderly with a lingering hug.
"I'm just relieved you're okay Caitlin. I thought I lost you" he said honestly.
"It takes more than a meta attack to get rid of me" I joked into his hug.
"Then it's a good thing I don't want to get rid of you at all" he smiled.
"Good night Liam" I said softly.
"Good night Snowflake" he whispered kissing my forehead one more time before he got in his car and drove away.
Once he did and I was inside my home I could see a streak of red also disappear into the distant.
Barry? I thought he left?Maybe he just wanted to make sure I was safely in my house. But part of me also thought it could be something more.
