Ch 15

Caitlin pov
I walked in the CCPD and was greeted by Joe.
"Hey Caitlin what are you doing? Looking for Bar?" He asked knowing that it was rare seeing me here.
"Yeah actually" I said smiling at him.
"He's in his lab catching up on some work" he said pointing upstairs.
"Great thanks" I said swallowing hard as my throat began to get dry from nervousness.
My hands began shaking slightly.
I'm confronting Barry about our future daughter together that's about as awkward as it get, specially because he is married.
I knocked softly before walking in.
"Hi Barry" I said softly as his back was facing me. I could see his back muscles tense at my voice.
"We need to talk" I continued.
"About lying to me? Or Dawn?" He asked in a harsh tone obviously still upset.
"Both l guess..." I admitted not daring to stand any closer than 6 feet away from him.
"I lied to you because telling you would not only possibly change the future but also because it's just...weird" I admitted.
"I didn't think I would EVER have a child let alone with you!" I said waving my hands above my head frantically to emphasize the severity of the situation.
"So obviously when Dawn told me I was her mother and you were her father. I freaked out and made Dawn promise me not to tell you" I explained.
"Don't try to excuse Dawn's actions" Barry said shaking his head in disappointment.
"Well I am because I made her keep it a secret. She wanted to tell you. Heck she even wanted to tell Iris. But I prohibited her. So if you're gonna be mad at anyone be mad at me not Dawn. She was just doing what she was being told. After all I am her mother" I said trying to get Barry to let Dawn off the hook.
"You know how many changes she could've made just by keeping this a secret for so long?" Barry asked probably thinking of all the possibilities.
"Nora and Dawn being here right now is just equally as dangerous Barry" I pointed out.
"Exactly so no one should be hiding anything from each other. Because at any given second either of them can snap out of existence" Barry countered looking at me expecting me to challenge what he said.
"You're right and I'm sorry for keeping this from you. But I was doing it to keep Nora safe Barry. Imagine if Iris were to find out and then worse case scenario she files for divorce. What would happen to Nora?" I said anxiously.
"Nora would be fine" Barry reassured firmly.
"You don't know that Barry" I said rolling my eyes at his cockiness.
"Yes I do" he stated.
"How could you possibly know that?" I argued back looking at him like he were a madman.
"Because Iris is pregnant!" He yelled snapping at me.
My eyes grew big at the news and my heart shattered a little bit. Even though deep down I was happy for him and Iris, I couldn't help but feel pain.
"Oh my—Barry that's amazing...I-I–congratulations! You're going to be a dad!" I said enthusiastically faking a wide smile my feet glued to the same spot that I've been standing at for 5 minutes now.
"Thank you!" He smiled happiness radiating off of his eyes. He was glowing.
"So what are we gonna do?" He asked after an awkward silence.
"We do nothing" I simply stated.
He gave a puzzled look waiting me to continue my train of thought.
"Whatever is meant to happen will happen at its corresponding time. We can't force the future into our own hands. So I say we just move on and forget about this. We don't tell anyone and keep it to ourselves. At the end of the day, Dawn is our daughter so it's no one else's business but ours" I explained shrugging.
He gave me a soft grin before rolling his eyes.
"What?" I asked puzzled.
"You're so bossy. You were obviously meant to be a mother" he chuckled.
"Oh shut up Barry" I chuckled.
"But you're right. We shouldn't  mess with the timeline if there isn't anything that needs changing" Barry agreed.
"Exactly" I nodded in agreement.
"So how many weeks along is she?" I asked curiously.
"Her doctor said about 18 weeks!" He smiled.
"Oh my gosh" I squealed happily.
Setting my feelings for Barry aside, I couldn't help but feel happy for the both of them. I've been Barry's friend for 5 years now, so being able to witness this huge milestone is an honor.
"It still hurts like a bitch though" Frost mentally.
"Frost" I whined.
"Oh coms on Caity you can't lie to me, I'm literally a part of you" Frost said.
"I'm shutting you out bye" I said mentally rolling my eyes.
"I know 18 weeks a long time. I can't believe it myself. We're gonna get a sonogram next week" Barry smiled.
"I'm sure she's one healthy and pretty baby" I complimented.
"I'm sure she's fat too. Iris has been eating non-stop" Barry chuckled.
"Well you're baby is a speedster and you eat a lot, so it makes sense for Iris to eat a lot more too. Actually I should probably run some tests on Iris to determine the minimum amount of food she should consume daily so she and the baby stay healthy" I said making a mental note of doing it as soon as she announced her pregnancy to the whole team.
"Yes Doctor Snow" He said with a grin.
"Okay I gotta get back to S.T.A.R labs. I'll see you later" I waved walking away from him
"Bye Cait" he said.
