My bed practically engulfed me as I set my hand on my stomach, letting out a deep breath as I stared up at the ceiling, the small glistening yellow lights which looked like stars filling my vision. My chest rose and fell to a steady rhythm, the sound of my breathing the only thing filling the dark and quiet room.

I sighed, pushing the covers off of me as I swung my legs off the side of the bed, my feet hitting the cold wooden floors as I pushed myself off of the bed, walking bled to the door. My pink silk shorts as top flowed against my smooth skin as I pushed the button, the door sliding open as I walked out into the hall, walking down it slowly as I stood in the living area.

The lights were still on and shining, which they always seemed to be here in the Capitol, the flames flickering in the fireplace to give the place some warmth. I walked over to the couch, sitting down as I sunk into the cushions, folding my legs to the side as I grabbed one of the throw pillows, setting it on my legs as I leaned onto it, staring at the flickering flames in the fire place.

I tried to focus my energy on them, watching them as they started off on the coals in the pit as they raised to the top, my eyes falling straight back to the bottom. I laid my head back, letting my hair fall over the back of the couch as I closed my eyes, clutching the pillow to my chest as I hugged it tightly. I had barely slept since I got here, and I didn't know if it was the impeding fest of dying of the fact that I missed my family more than I could explain.

I opened my eyes, sighing loudly as I stared at the large shimmering chandelier that hung from the ceiling, milling in my silence for a moment as a loud crashing noise came from behind me. I snapped my head around quickly, seeing and Avox looking down at that bass she had dropped before he fell to her knees, about to pick up the pieces.

I sighed loudly, bringing my legs up and crossing them on the couch, staring at the shimmering chandelier that hung from the ceiling. There was a crashing noise coming from behind me, causing me to turn my head quickly, only to see an avox looking down at a vase before kneeling on the floor, picking up the glass pieces.

"Wait don't pick up the glass, it will cut you" I said, jumping off of the couch, and walking round it to help her, throwing the pillow down as i bent down over the glass. I knew they couldn't talk, the Capitol having removing their tongues for going against them, and Daria told me we weren't supposed to talk to them anyways, but I wasn't going to let her cut up her hands.

She didn't listen to me, continuing to pick them up carefully, holding them in the middle to avoid the sharp edges. I squatted down next to her, picking up a big one shard, avoiding the sharp edges as I gently held it in my hand, looking over at her as she looked back at me, making eye contact as she looked back at the floor instantly. Her eyebrows were painted red to match both her lips and the dress she was wearing, her dark brown hair pulled and twisted tightly on her head, which look like it hurt a lot.

"What district were you from?" I asked her, hoping for her to hold up her fingers to tell me, which she didn't do initially, just staring back at me as I smiled at her softly. I held my free hand out in front of her, causing her to look down at it as she lifted her finger, drawing on my palm gently. "7" I said to her, more of a question than a statement to which she nodded her head at me. "It must smell lovely there, all the trees" I said to her with a smile, causing her to nod her head at me as she stared back at me, not motioning you anything else as I let out a small laugh.

"I like the smell of trees, I just smell like fish all the time" I added, laughing a little to which she didn't return, looking back down at the floor as I cleared my throat gently. "How old are you?" I asked her, still holding my hand in front of her, which she reluctantly drew on once again, being sure to be extra gentle. "16?" I asked, unsure of what she wrote, causing her to nod her head as I smiled at her. "I'm 16 too, my birthday was in May" I said to her as she picked up the rest of the glass gently, causing me to look around as I stood up quickly.

"Here" I said, grabbing the trash can that sat at the end of the couch, putting the glass in it before holding it out to her, to which she dropped the glass in as well. "It was nice talking to you" I said with a smile, setting the trash can down again as she nodded her head at me, squeezing out a very small hint of a smile as she turned away from me, walking back through the door quickly.

My smile dropped as she left the room, turning around as I looked at the large clock above the TV, letting out a deep breath as I shook my head, realising it was 3am and I was wide awake with nothing to do, making my way back to my room to stare at my ceiling once again.
