I lay in the sand, the warm water lapping over my feet as I stared at the empty blue sky above me, the sun beaming down on me. It was probably a bad idea to be in the sun but it wasn't any different to how hot it was in the shade of the trees, which is where everyone else sat, leaning against the trees that lined the beach. My body was aching all over, from both walking so much over the last few days and because I was getting absolutely no water at all.

We hadn't moved all day, it now being about mid after noon, no one having the energy to even get up and walk. We had failed to find any more water sources on the way back to the beach yesterday, and it was starting to affect us. We had eaten fish all day, trying to eat as much as possible to keep our mouths moist instead of dry, but it wasn't doing much than making us a lot more thirsty.

I didn't move, my hands out on either side of my, my trident in my hand as I closed my eyes. If anyone wanted to kill me right now it would be extremely easy, as I barely even had the energy to get up and fight them. I tried to form some saliva in my mouth, running my tongue over my teeth over and over again just for my mouth to stay as dry as it was before.

We were sweating so much that we were emitting a lot more liquid than we were taking in, which was not good for any of us. My eyes shot open at the sound of a canon, making me sit up quickly, almost dizzy as I turned around, seeing that Nolan, Velvet, Valour and Ashlor were all looking back down at me, checking if I was dead. "You guys alright?" I shouted to them as they nodded their heads at me, looking around them into the jungle as I let out a sigh, standing up slowly.

My legs were unsteady as I walked up the beach, the hot sand sticking the bottom of my wet shoes as I sat down next to them all, setting my trident next to me with a heavy sigh. "I reckon someone's lost it from not drinking anything" Velvet said as she lay down on the leaves that had gathered, using them as some padding on the rough dry ground. She put her head on her arm, closing her eyes as she let out a deep breath, just as tired and lethargic as the rest of us.

"We aren't far off" Nolan said quietly, putting her head on her shoulder as she leaned against a tree, using the back of my hand to wipe her forehead, pushing some hair away that had stuck to it. "We need to find water tomorrow or it'll be one of us next with the canon" Ashlor said, nodding his head as he agreed with her, making me sigh as I looked back out at the water. "How many days has it been?" Valour asked as he stuck his sword into the ground next to him, cracking his knuckles quickly.

"Two days" I told him, shrugging my shoulders as Ashlor sighed, shaking his head as he looked up quickly. "It wasn't this hot the first few days" he said as Velvet let out a small groan, agreeing with him but not wanting to open her mouth. "They are trying to pick some people off" Nolan agreed, also closing her eyes as rubbed her lips together, licking them quickly which didn't do anything.

"We found the river really quickly in the first day, I don't think they liked that" I said to them all quietly as I pulled one of my knees up to my chest, leaning my cheek against it. "Yeah and then they went and dried up all the water supplies on us" Valour said, clenching his jaw tightly as he shook his blonde hair away from his eyes, pushing it back with his hand as he rolled his eyes. I didn't reply to him, nor did anyone else, probably because we knew better than to insult the game makers, because they were the people who were controlling whether we were dead or alive, and they could easily kill us with the flick of a switch.

"There's got to be something in here, they can't have too many people dropping from dehydration" Velvet said quietly, not opening her eyes as I sighed, knowing that she was right. "I hope so" I said quietly, letting my eyes fall closed gently, hoping that when I opened them a copper tap would sprout from a tree that had an endless supply of drinkable water, but if that did happen, I would know that I'd be dead from hallucinations in less than an hour.
