I watched Ridley fall to the ground, his eyes blank as he hit the dirt face first at full impact, the axe sticking out of the back of his neck as the girl stared at me for a beat before letting out a shrill scream, sprinting her way towards me. A canon sounded, and I knew that considering where the axe had hit Ridley in the neck, he definitely died as soon as it hit him. I held my trident up in front of me as she ran towards me while screaming loudly, swinging her axe at my head as I ducked just in time for her to catch the handle in both hands. I let out a cry as I tried to block her next blow with my trident, which didn't work as she dragged the sharp blade along my stomach.
She had pulled her axe right above my belly button, driving from one side of my abdomen to my other. I screamed out in pain, feeling the warm blood run down my legs and gathered wet suit that had been destroyed by the rain. I spun my trident in my hand, using the back of the handle to strike her in her stomach, making her stumble back. She spun around as she tried to bring her axe down on me, making me move to the side as I struck my trident at her wrist. I created a long slash up her arm as she dropped her axe to the ground with a scream of pain. She pulled another smaller one out of her holster on her hip as she threw it into the air, swiping her hand out as she caught it easily, her hand on the black grip.
I was barely holding on, the pain from my new stomach wound reaching the top of my head and the tips of my toes, masking all the feeling in my body but the pain. The girl was already in quite a bad position, her skin raw with gashes and boils from the burning of the rain. You could tell she hadn't found adequate protection from the acid, her whole left side hanging down slightly and her arm torn up completely. I was so sure I could see her bone of her upper arm, pieced of the fabric of her wet suit melted into her skin and blood.
She grunted as she lifted her hands over her head, preparing to throw the axe at me as I held my trident in one hand. I stepped forward quickly with one foot, lunging as as I plunged the blades of my trident into her neck before she could move an inch, making her let out a scream as I let out a shaky breath. She dropped the axe behind her head as her arms fell limp by her side. I moved up to her, standing with my head over her shoulder as I put my other hand on her back, pushing her into the trident.
My grip on my weapon loosened as the sound of a second canon ripped through the air her head falling against my shoulder, her forehead resting there as her blood dropped from her neck onto my chest. My bottom lip trembled as I let out a small whimper and before I could tell myself not to there were tears pouring out of my eyes, the girls blonde hair tickling against my cheek. I was guessing she was from 7, considering her skill with the axes, and Fuse did tell me that he had seen a girl take a bunch of axes from the cornucopia on the first day.
I set her hand on her shoulder as her body fell into me, my trident handle in one hand as her limp weight fell against me. I kept my hand on her back as I held her upright, the sound of my sons being the only thing that surrounded me. I grabbed her arm as I lowered her down onto the ground slowly, her eyes wide open as she stared at me, her face having burns from the rain that matched mines. I lay her on the ground as her head rolled to the side, making me let out another small sob.
I yanked my trident out of her neck as blood poured from where my blades had stood. I dropped my trident down to the ground quickly, my fingers warm from blood as I looked down at my stomach as blood poured from the cut she had made. It was way too deep for the blood to stop by itself, and I could basically see the inside of my skin as my eyes clouded with tears. I blinked a few times as I put one hand down to the waterfall worth of blood, my palm getting covered in blood as I shook it off quickly.
I pushed my hand onto my stomach, trying my hardest to put pressure on it, which wasn't working considering how fast it was spraying out blood. My whole body was crying out in pain as my legs shook under me, threatening to give out. I knew i couldn't, having to power through as long as possible, which would probably end in me lying on the ground as i bled to death. I looked over at Ridely, who was lying face down in the dirt, the small hand held axe sticking out of the back of his neck.
