It was midnight when my light was flipped on.  Technically I hadn't fallen alseep. Not e=really anyways. I couldn't stop thinking about Owen. I wanted some sort of reason as to why he left me alone for so long. I rolled over to the door and saw Owen.

"Oh, Hey." I said getting up, heart rate picking up.

If we got caught by curfew rounds it could get bad. But standing in a dark room we could pretend that we were anywhere. That I was me and He was him. That this was really us. Well, at least I could.

But then Owen hurried over to me and grabbed me in a hug, picking me up off the floor. It startled me I'll admit. You don't just greet strangers like that. That hug was reserved for people who shared stories, memories, and tears shed.

"I missed you Charlie Rose." He whispered.

I pulled away, "You remember me?"

Holy shit! Someone please alert the media.

"I never forgot you."

"Wait what?" I narrowed my eyes. "You let me think you where dead! Let me think you forgot about me!"

"Calm down." He said. "I can explain."

"I don't want you to. I want you to leave me alone, and never talk to me again."

"You sure?" He muttered.

"It's what I want." I said, teeth clenched.

"Okay." He nodded. "Just tell me one thing. How have you been?"

I walked to the chest and grabbed the stack of letters.

"They're all to you." I said, my voice sounding like I had a sore throat. I nodded and bit my lip as he took them. "Goodbye Owen."

"Fair well, Charlotte." He kissed my forehead and then left my room.

I pulled on my shoes and walked down the hall to the front office. I pulled a phone from a hook and sat down in the booth.

"Hello?"
"Mom?" I asked. "I want to come home."

She laughed, "You're positive?"

"This is what I want."

"Your Dad will be there first thing in the morning."

"Thank you."

"Are you alright Charlie?"

"No." I shook my head, even though she couldn't see. "But I'll explain everything once I'm at home."

"I love you sweat heart."

"I love you too Momma."

"Goodbye honey."

"Bye."

I hung up the phone and left the booth. I grabbed my suit case and set it on my bed.

"Going home?"

I tossed in a shirt, "I can't stay here anymore."

"Why?"

"Because he's here."

"He doesn't remember you."

"Yes he does." I turned to Ryder. "He remembers me. He lied."

"So your just going to leave?" He asked. "Just like that?"

"Yeah." I turned to my suitcase. "No use in being here anymore. I can deal with this on my own."

"No you can't." He sat on my chest. "You know you can't."

"You don't know what I know."

"I know your giving up."
"What else is new?"

"Your giving up on other people this time."

"The only way I'll give up is if I'm dead."

"You'll be back."

"I know."

"See you when you come back."

I turned around as he stood up.

"See you then." I muttered.

He kissed my forehead and then left the room.

I slammed a pair of pants in the suitcase and then sat down, legs to my chest. This was for the best. I wasn't going to be able to heal here with Owen walking the halls. I shoved the suitcase onto the floor and tossed the covers over my head. The next morning I quickly packed everything. I walked to my desk, and fell. I grabbed onto my desk and looked behind me. An envelope was still sliding across the hardwood floor.

I picked it up. To the old Charlotte Rose, it said. I shoved it into my suitcase, and left the room.

_______

"We'll miss you around here." Maggie said as I walked through that hall.

I gave her a hug and then went to the front office. I sat down in a chair and waited for my Dad. I heard running feet and looked down the hall. Ayelie and Clara where running down the hall. I stood up, and Ayelie crashed into me. I wrapped one arm around her, just as Clara slammed into us both.

"Your leaving?" Clara asked, when they pulled back.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"Cause of him." Ayelie said. "Owen."

"Yeah, he never forgot me."

"He lied?" Clara asked. "We should tell someone."

"No."

"Why not?" Ayelie asked. "Because of him we have to suffer and lose our best friend? That's not fair too us."

"I'll still be around."

"Girls, you need to get to class." The front office woman said.

"Bye." Clara said, hugging me.

Ayelie hugged me next, "Don't starve yourself."

"Don't Kill yourself."

We hugged again and then she hurried down the hall head down. The front door opened and Dad walked in. I ran to him, and he grabbed me in a hug.
