"When is the strike?" Caden asked from the door.
I smiled at him, and He nodded.
"I'm in, but we have to make sure we have a lot of people because no one is going to want to listen to a couple of teenagers." Ayelie said, joining in on the task, "Who cares if a couple of kids have a problem. But if half the school had a problem? Then what?"
"The only problem is, How are we going to talk to anyone about this?" Ryder asked, "There's nurses everywhere, and if they see us trying to rebel they'll probably lock us in a padded cell."
"Do they have those?" Clara wanted to know.
"Yup." Alex, Ayelie, and Caden said in unison.
I looked at my brother and he shrugged.
Alex sat down at a desk. "What if we stayed up past curfew and put up poster boards for everyone to see in the morning?" He offered.
"They'll just take it down when they're doing morning checks. The nurses wake up early for that." Clara said.
"That's why we make a bunch of them." Caden said, "So much that they don't have a chance to take them all down. It just takes a couple of kids to see it, and then there goes the rumor mill. We might be crazy, but we're still in high school."
We all agreed and headed to the door.
"Wait!" Mr. Pepper called.
We all slowly turned to him. Almost for got he was there. He wasn't going to stop us was he? He was just on our side d a couple of seconds ago. Was he just getting information on us for the school board? Using our trust in him against us? Mr. Pepper got up and walked to a closet.
"Shut the door Ayelie." He pulled out a poster board. "This needs to be done in secret. If they can't find out who did it, we can keep doing it until someone hears us."
My heart soared. After all, it only took one voice to spread hope.
"Good idea." Alex walked over to Mr. Pepper and Ayelie closed and locked the door.
"Charlie," Mr. Pepper pointed his arms full of poster boards, "Get the markers from the file cabinet. Caden, Ryder, move back all the desks we need some room. Clara grab the scissors, Ayelie, grab the glue, Alex, help me set out these poster boards."
We all got to work on the poster boards. Mr. Pepper gave our classes a note saying our grade was falling and we were with him doing a report for extra credit. No nurse needed, they thought Mr. Pepper was on their side. It was two in the morning as we met back up at Mr. Pepper's class room. We had a bunch of desks pulled together, a big map over them like a table cloth. Caden and I were the last to get there.
"Now," Mr. Pepper pointed to the map, "The hall ways with the class rooms don't have a camera except for one at the end of the halls. They have motion sensors, so you have to look out for them. Put these on."
He handed out paper masks. I guess bandit hats would be a bit too much eh? He also told us to wear black and us girls to wear a hood to cover the color of our hair. It only took us a couple of seconds to pull on our hoods and put on our Masks. Mr. Pepper went around our Semi circle handing us each tape and a stack of papers, each stack a different color in neon
"Alright, we'll be in groups. The girls and then the boys." Mr. Pepper said.
Once in the hall we parted ways into our groups hanging up posters. I even started to shove mine into lockers. There, just try and shut us up now.
