FIVE YEARS LATER

Adam smiled softly as he passed by the slew of wedding photos that hung in the hallways of his and Dylan's home. His fingers grazed over the glass picture frame as he fondly remembered the day he became Adam Tremblay Messina. He looked fondly at the candid wedding photo of Adam and Dylan wearing their tailored black suits, him resting his head of Dylan's strong chest as they had their first dance as a married couple.

After he first proposed, Dylan left the decision of when they actually set to date completely up to Adam. If he had his way he'd have married him the next morning, but he knew Adam would probably want time, he probably had a dream wedding in mind that he always hoped for. The truth was that Adam never had a dream wedding in mind, he never dreamt that he would ever get married.

They decided to get married that December in Montréal at the Tremblay family mansion. There were many of them, but this was the big one, the first one Dylan's Grandpapa brought when he built his corporation from the ground up. It was important to them, it was home for the entire family. Grandpapa was ecstatic when Adam and Dylan told him they wanted to get married there but he only agreed on request.

When Dylan told Grandpapa all about Adam and his parents, it unsettled the older man. He hated that Adam would always live with the name of his unaccepting parents forever attached to him. Though he knew it was a big ask, he wanted Adam to become a Tremblay-Messina, just as Dylan was from birth. He sat Adam and Dylan down one evening and said that he had only one request for him, and he understood if Adam didn't want to do it. His last name was his identity after all.

Adam had tears in his eyes when the older man asked him to officially take the Tremblay Messina family name, so that he would forevermore be an official Tremblay. He talked it through with Maria, who also dropped the family surname when she got married, and they both agreed that it was a good idea, for the sake of Adam finally healing from the years of emotional abuse that lead up to him being thrown out.

The ceremony was huge, larger than Adam was comfortable with, but a son of the Tremblay family was getting married, meaning it was basically a few steps removed from a royal wedding. Politicians, businessmen, celebrities all were in attendance, there were people from the press all flashing photos as Adam walked down the aisle with his sister, Maria and Dr. LaPointe who were honoured to give him away. Sophia was his made of honour, granted that she had always been there for him, and Hayden was Dylan's best man, which was kind of a given. It was the perfect ceremony to mark the most perfect day of Adam's life.

"Good morning, Prettyboy." Dylan said from behind Adam as he snaked his arms around the smaller boy's waist and rested his head on the smaller boy's shoulder. "Happy Anniversary." he whispered as they both gazed nostalgically at the black and white glamour shots from their wedding. Dylan pushed Adam's oversized t-shirt to the side so he could kiss him on his collarbone.

"You remembered." Adam blushed bright red as he turned around to face Dylan, gently placing his hand on Dylan's muscular chest.

"I was going to leave it as a surprise for tonight, but I couldn't bare seeing you so sad for the rest of the day." Dylan smirked at him. "But you're not getting any more hints about your surprise."

"Alright fine..." Adam said childishly as Dylan ruffled his soft brown hair teasingly before pulling him towards the bedroom.

"Come on let's get ready, we both have early surgeries today." Dylan said as he pushed his husband towards the washroom.

Adam and Dylan walked into the hospital and changed into their navy blue attending surgeons' scrubs. Adam finished residency last year and Dylan two years before. Grandpapa, Hayden, and Dylan's uncle and and mom pitched in to buy them a beautiful waterfront mansion in Kitsilano with a breathtaking view of Downtown Vancouver. There were more bedrooms than Adam could find use for, though one was converted into a nursery and another reserved for Xavier and Nico who still loved visiting.
