He abandoned his walk back to the comfort of his home, or at least, postponed it. Returned to the town, hunched over, his eye seeing everything in a twisted, discoloured fashion. With each step, he felt himself lower ever so slowly. His head ached, but he ignored it. A shark-tooth smile lay on his face, his body shaking ever so faintly. Looking around at the strange world that his mind built, he searched for unsuspecting prey. Eventually, he began to move on all fours, trembling like a thin tree in high winds, but smiling like a mad cat. Luigi finally saw something through the strange, always moving land, a yellow-spotted toad. A piece of him believed that he knew this person in particular, before he changed. He couldn't bring himself to recognize the unlucky toadstool, however. A low-pitched, animalistic growl escaped him, cutting the peaceful silence like a saw. The toad stopped and looked up. He began to tremble in fear, "What was that?" He whimpered.
>.... don't make this harder than it has to be....
Luigi took the opportunity now to strike, launching like a missile. Claws sank into his prey's back. The toad shrieked, and he knew then that he had to be fast, or he'll be spotted. Thinking quickly, Luigi bit into the toadstool's neck and jerked his head to the side, which was enough to turn his victim mute. He bit into the body and ate at its flesh, but after some time, and without warning, he heard a gasp, and a voice yell, "What the hell is that thing?!" He only glanced back, realizing then that these voices were real, and, not bothering to stand up all the way, Luigi ran away, not daring to see if he was being followed. Once he got the chance, he ducked under a fallen tree propped up onto a boulder. He twitched, grinning, but it collapsed into a look of horror. What he had done terrified him enough, but now people saw him.
-"Don't worry too much about that, my darling, they didn't even recognize you!"-
The voice said calmly. Luigi couldn't stop himself as he yelped,
"But I was seen! At all!! What's going to happen now?! I barely saw them, and the same goes for you, they could have gotten... I don't know, a picture! What then? What if someone recognizes me then?"
The voice laughed. It really was a devil.
-"They won't. You wouldn't recognize someone you knew if they were in this situation instead, now, would you? You have nothing to worry about, love."-
Luigi hated to admit it, but the voice's words did reassure him.
