After long, Luigi pauses to look around. In his search, he never paid attention to where his feet took him, things were quite wrong with the scenery. Dread set on the young man like a leopard stalking its prey. He's lost. He wandered aimlessly through the brush and grass, having time to think in the silence.
>Was that ghost really using illusions, or am I just being paranoid?
>What if nobody notices I'm gone?!
>No! At least be realistic!!
>Is a trail set up? Maybe I can use it to find my way back!
>It's getting late... not good...
>What if I never find a way out?
>What if I'm never found?
Luigi continued to amble, unsure of where he is or where he's going, but hoping he gets somewhere, at least. As he walks, constantly fidgeting with his bloodstained clothes, which were beyond uncomfortable, he hears a faint chuckle. "Who's there?!" Luigi yelps, scuttling backwards.
After a few moments of frantically looking about, his eye settled on a green, floating figure. Wait... was that...? Luigi approached the spirit, who gave a smile in response. "Well, well, well. What do we have here? It seems you've finally left that castle to find the ones who had left without you?"
Luigi blinked, trying to ignore the greenie's words. "Aren't you the ghost I saw back there? I... I was paying attention.. I..." he took a breath in an effort to calm his nerves, "I, erm, I have reason to believe you tricked them into going without me." He straightened his back a bit and stared into the ghastly eyes ahead of him. The ghost took a moment, perhaps processing his words, and scowled. Looming over Luigi, who quickly cowered, the spectral being lifted a claw, which glowed with a power most grim. As Luigi backed up, the claw came closer to him, until it made contact with his forehead. A surge of power shook the leaves around them, and Luigi fell back. As he hit the ground and consciousness slipped away from him, the spirit backed up. "A shame, but you have left me no other choice. I could have helped you, but you saw more than I would have liked. No matter, I will be seeing you nine months from now."

Mario looked around at the kingdom. He and Peach had made it back safely. He turned back to see the princess looking back the way they came. "Where did he go..?" She asked quietly. Mario blinked,
"Who, Luigi? I thought he was right behind us!" Peach turned around and replied,
"If he was, then he should be here by now."
Mario paused. She was absolutely right. He should have shown up. He was getting nervous now, wondering if is little brother really was with them as he returned to the Mushroom Kingdom. "Er.... okay, how's this- You stay here, I'll go find Luigi, sound good?" Peach nodded. A plan it was as Mario rushed back, looking anywhere he could to try finding his brother.
