AM I REALLY THAT BAD?

Everything's so dark...
But something, nay, someone is here.

Wendigo looked up. There was no way he was awake, right? Somebody stood over him. It looked like an eerily lifelike plush toy. The fabric where the eyes would be was white and stitched on af if it was once damaged. Where eyes should be, there were two red Xs. Red like fresh blood. It seemed to wear a green shirt and overalls, and it's long hair was tied back into a ponytail, with flowers woven into its plush hair.
L?

The being opened its mouth, which was full of uneven rows of sharp metal teeth.
"There's nothing you should be so upset about..."
Yeah. That was L.
"Of course there is! I ruined your goddamn life!"
Wendigo yelled back, tears stinging his eyes.
L was silent for a a while, and it made him sick, sick with the anticipation of what he'll say.
"But I let it happen because I didn't understand what was happening. You barely knew, either. Beelzebub even encouraged all that because he didn't understand what was going on, even though he acted like it. All of us are at fault for becoming this trainwreck. That's why I wanted to save us. Because I knew something was wrong, just not for reasons I could see then. I thought that maybe if I got myself out of that nightmare, you'd be there, too."
L smiled, and Wendigo was stunned.
L doesn't hate him? Surely, he thought, he would! Especially after all that. And yet, L still wanted to help him and Beelzebub, even though they acted so evil, and dragged him into the dark. Was that always in L's nature? To help people, even if they wronged him?
He didn't realise it, but he was smiling softly. This was... unexpected, at least for him.
But still, he felt wrong.

"But... still... after everything... you can't forgive that, there's no way."
"I never did, but I think your little slaughterfest hurt you, too?"
Wendigo hesitated, but suddenly, words poured of him like bottled water.
"It did... I didn't know why I was doing any of that... I wanted it to end but I could barely get it together, I don't know how clearly you saw what I did, if at all, but I was lucky if I could see a silhouette. I tried to call for your help, but I never got an answer... I don't even think you heard me... ever since I realised that, I just assumed you two just hated me..."
Wendigo sniffed and cried, briefly surprised to feel an embrace.

"I'm so sorry... I would have answered if I had known..."
