Moving back and forth on all four limbs, Luigi paced his bedroom. He had retrieved the plushies that he made some time before and propped them up throughout his room. He mumbled nonsense to himself, jumping up and onto his bed, looking up a little and finding himself face to face with a button-eyed Mario.
Staring at it, making direct eye contact as if it were alive, he fell into a laying position.
--"It didn't have to be this way..."--
It was a voice, but far unlike the one he was so used to. Its sound reminded Luigi of his brother, and he began to shy away from the stitched smile regarding him.
--"You never would have turned out this way if you just weren't afraid... And now? Look at yourself. You crawl about like an animal, at any point, you can turn on an innocent person, and kill them only to be devoured immediately. You're a monster. Imagine what would happen if someone found out"--
Luigi snarled, shutting his eyes tightly. He didn't want to think about it. He's changed the way he lived to avoid people knowing, even if it made his mind even worse. He's lived this entire time hidden from everyone.
--"You think you're hidden, but you've been seen. They don't know who their little domestic wendigo is now, but its only a matter of time..."--
Luigi flinched. A domestic wendigo... was that what they were calling him? He looked down at the blankets below him, which he just realized were becoming damp with tears. As he stared down, trying to make sense of what he heard, the new voice kept on talking.
His breath grew heavy, his heart felt like a ton of bricks. He could barely keep his thoughts in a line. He began to twitch, his claws pressing into the cloth beneath him. He clenched his jaw, trying to blink back tears but they kept on coming. Maybe he is a monster. Perhaps that's all he is, and all he was meant to be. He forced a sigh. If that was what he was supposed to be, then he will hold the title.
He began to smile, but only slightly. He looked back up at the plush, and crept closer, like a hunter to its prey. "Maybe so, but if it's a monster everyone wants from me, then they're getting the best one I can make of myself." He hissed, swiping a clawed hand at it, knocking it onto its side, but not damaging it. He heard the voice he was much more used to laugh, and in that moment, Luigi felt infinitely powerful.
