Time passed, both parties pulled themselves together...

For the time being, that is.

They were both awfully quiet, L absentmindedly petting Polterpup, letting his mind wander, going on its uncontrollable tangents. He glanced up, and shuddered at the sight of what he was sure was a masked face in the window. He grinned, though not quite realising. He chuckled a bit, picking the dog up and beginning to move away from the window. His uncertainty about whether the mask was or wasn't real worried him, so

he decided it was better to not stick around and find out. He wasn't even sure if that was the best choice, but he didn't quite care. Polterpup licked his face before wriggling free of his arms and scampering away. He watched him go, happy that at least someone here was doing okay. He looked around, but couldn't find

Daisy anywhere. He shrugged, entering his room. He sat on his bed, beginning to stare off into space.

-"Well, congratulations, my dear, you have had your cry for help answered"-
He winced. He couldn't understand why Beelzebub always managed to choose just the right words to disturb him.
>Why are you so proud of it? If this actually works he'll just get rid of us.
"... no I won't..."
Inside, he could feel like how Wendigo does. He could feel the frightful monster's stunned expression.
>What...?
L tried to sound firm, "I said I won't get rid of you two."
>...we'll see about that...
"I'm serious. Do you two not understand? I've spent a little over a year now almost alone. Dammit, this past year is most of what I remember. But that entire time, you both were there..."
L's voice began to break, like a turtle's shell upon a rock.
"Even if you weren't the best at times, you both were with me... It probably doesn't mean anything to you but you were all I had for as long as I can remember. I keep saying that I want to save myself, but I want you guys to stay with me. You mean everything to me, hell, I'm sure I would have turned out worse if neither of you were here

...Please don't leave me..."

L burst into sobs, trying to continue talking, but all that came out of him was blubbering.
-"Sweetheart, we're not going anywhere. Don't think for a second that we will."-
Hesitation. He couldn't predict what Wendigo will say.

>I wouldn't leave even if I was given the option. We're here to stay.

L's heavy, noisy crying quickly became littered with short, quickly cut off laughter, and heavy breathing. A smile cut across his cheeks, he couldn't be any happier.

Eventually, he began to tire. He laid on his bed, his grin turning weak, his eye beginning to close on its its own. He needed to rest, he's had a long day. But just before he closed his eyes, he whispered softly,

"Thank you..."
