"I don't like the idea of you going down there Zuko, you saw that beam of light, what if the Avatar hurts you?"
Elaria was worried to say the least, after years of travel the crew had made it to the South Pole, they'd been crawling all over the world. This place seemed to be the most pointless.
The Southern Water tribe is the equivalent of a baren wasteland of ice and snow. There was nothing to see. They haven't even come across a village much less a living being besides themselves. She was antsy to return to actual civilization.
Yet the sudden invasion of light into the sky made Elaria paranoid that it wasn't the northern lights this time.
And that terrified her.
Her cousin Zuko was eager to believe it was the Avatar, and if the Avatar was to return, what would that mean for the safety of the Fire Nation?
Avatar Roku had died and left the palace in disarray after a horrible attack on her Great Grandfather Sozin, yet if this Avatar was an Airbender? Or perhaps the cycle has continued to the Waterbenders?
As far as she was aware there were none left at the southern tip of the world.
Zuko never thinks about the well being of the fire nation. Elaria would rather leave the Avatar to freeze here, there was no one to help him.
Once again, she was proven wrong.
Elaria remained in deep thought. The village below them is a tragic sight in her point of view, with little else but small huts, ice, and snow.
All the villagers are women and children, with the exception of a young boy who was running haphazardly at Zuko, she wasn't really that worried over him. He was a child playing warrior.
And Zuko demonstrated that. The boy was left in a pile of snow.
"He should be about this old?" Zuko yelled and grabbed a random face from the huddled villagers, she was unhappy to see Zuko held a tight grip on the oldest woman in the tribe, and she made sure to voice her displeasure.
"Zuko! Let her go!" She yelled at him from the ship, making her way down, "Crown Princess I don't believe you should-"
"I will be fine Uru, there are no water benders that can harm me here," Elaria responded, nonetheless, once she was down the ramp the two guards positioned behind Zuko flocked to her side.
Zuko rolled his eyes but let go as she asked, he threw her back into the crowd; he continued to yell, "Where is he?!"
If her cousin was anything it was impatient, how could they answer when he seemed to intimidate their every movement? There was no value in using force against a harmless group of civilians. Especially when they were only children and women.
Suddenly her eyes spied the rapid shifts of snow that toppled her cousin, Zuko was thrown upwards landing headfirst into the ice. Elaria's eyes widened, she nearly ran to his aid; praying to the dragons that she wouldn't be proven wrong a third time that day.
She really hoped that was a softer landing, "Guards!" Elaria yelled for them to move to her cousin, although he held his hand up, as he got up himself, pushing them away. Both their focus strayed to the culprit.
In front of him was a kid, who looked only slightly younger than Elaria herself, her grey eyes strayed to his clothes before they widened. The colors he wore was enough to send warning signals in her head. Her father had so many relics from their time and the tattoos!
He's an Airbender! Right in front of her!
"Take my cousin back to the ship," Zuko commanded, he was engaged in a stare-off with the Airbender. Could this kid really be who they were looking for? He was weak and frail. Zuko will be alright, Elaria decided. There was no way this kid, Avatar or not; Could take her cousin down.
