Elaria had left Aunt Wu. Too stressed over her future to deal with the incessant trivial matter of romance. There shouldn't even be time for that during War.
She hadn't noticed the worried glances Aang would send her.
The four loitered outside Aunt Wu's building, Appa behind them. Elaria held Momo in her arms, seeking more comfort from Aang's beloved lemur. Although he watched the two with a small pout. They began walking down the street.
"Well, now you got to see for yourselves how fortune-telling is just a big, stupid hoax," Sokka grumbled on. For the sake of not worrying them with her silence, she pretended as though everything was normal. Although she didn't give Sokka, Aang, and Katara the chance to ask about her predictions as she ushered them out.
"You're saying that because she predicted a life of self-inflicted struggle and anguish," Elaria called him out. Katara agreed with her, "Exactly, you're just saying that because you're going to make yourself unhappy your whole life,"
Sokka's voice rose in anger, "That woman is crazy! My life will be calm and happy and joyful!" He raged against them. Elaria snorted at the irony, "You say that as you throw a tantrum?"
Sokka roughly kicked a stone, which flew into a hanging sign and ricocheted off. Striking his head just as he crossed his arms and glowered at the dirt. He collapsed onto the ground, clasping his head in pain and groaning. Sokka removed one of his arms from the self-inflicted injury, he rose a finger, "That doesn't prove anything!"
The onlookers ignored him unimpressed with the shenanigans by the disbeliever.
"Well, I liked my predictions," Katara sighed dreamily, "Certain things are going to turn out very well," She clasped her hands together and stared off into the horizon. Elaria briefly felt content at the happiness on her face. "I'm very happy for you Katara," She told her honestly, "Whoever has the honor of being with you is going to have to go through me first though," She joked.
"Well, what about you Elaria?" Katara asked her again, "What did Aunt Wu tell you about your love life?"
Elaria awkwardly shifted, "About that... I didn't really get any information on it?" Her sentence faltered into a question. Katara frowned, "Did she not see anything?" Her eyes widened in concern. Aang mirrored her expression, although flickers of hurt and sadness also lined his eyes. He recalled what he overheard but also desperately wanted to know about her love life.
Whatever happens in Elaria's future, he'll be there next to her. He's always planned on it, and he's always planned to protect her. He just wants to know how he'll be there. His heart hoped for it to mean something more than friends. That he would see the same look of adoration in her eyes that Sokka always teases him for.
"It's not that she didn't see anything," Elaria quickly simmered their worry, "It's just that I got distracted with everything else about my future that she didn't get the chance to tell me more,"
Katara gaped at her, "What? No, we have to go back!" The waterbender grabbed Elaria and hauled her in the direction they came from. Sokka straggled behind as Aang helped him up. The nomad than ran to follow them eagerly.
"Hey!"
"Wait what? Why is this so important to you Katara?" Elaria questioned her.
Katara smiled slyly at her, "You'll see, now come on!"
The group slowed to a stop as they came upon a gathering crowd. The people loitered around a village courtyard, a pagoda in the center. The villagers pointed to the clouds. The group walked over to them before pausing once they were in the midst of the people.
