A/N When internet problems become your wolfsbane...
Elaria had rejected the opportunity to contact her father, on the chance that he did do something to save her Zuko would tag along. But that was because she wanted to keep her Zuko and Iroh safe and away from the earthbenders in Omashu. Right?
More like the fact that she couldn't risk Aang that way.
Her denial had reached the point where even she recognized it, but then again she could enter a sort of deal with Aang. Elaria knew he only wanted the comfort of another airbender.
As for her... the stiffness of her limbs and the blossoming hues of purple and blue forced her to rethink her tactics- She was ready to embrace her bending if it meant she could defend herself and fight. Never again. It will never happen again.
She could already imagine Aang's thrill at the thought of her accepting him as a teacher, especially since that meant he no longer had to keep an eye on her; to make sure she didn't run or try to escape.
After claiming the satchel Elaria sat herself down, she didn't bow or nod to him, a move that was explicit in stating that King Loony's rank is not above hers. The King stood straight, no longer granting the impression of his susceptibility to old age. Elaria's eyes narrowed at him. Hiding her surmounting fear under a gaze of annoyance.
"I would appreciate it if we could end with this false appearance," Elaria said to the King, she knew better now that he only portrayed his looniness, she had to admit that he oozed the same wisdom her father did and tried not to let that bother her; there were more things important. "Why was I separated from them?"
King Bumi smiled, his eyes shining with barely veiled mischief "I plan to set several challenges for the Avatar, he will eventually be tested to know who I am," The king walked to the other side of the desk and sat down at the seat. Elaria did her best not to show her relief, "Why am I here then? You clearly have plans for me," The king shook his head in dismissal.
"Not quite, you're merely a guest here until the events are over, I don't need you to give spoilers of my fun," He laughed. She frowned; "I don't look to anger people by making a situation all the more complicated for you Hai,"
Elaria felt anxiety spark in her, "You know my father," She stated decisively. "Only he ever called me by that name." She pointed an accusing finger at the teacups, "These are Jasmine, his favorite so why don't you tell me your real purpose in having me here." She snapped back at him. Her emotions threatening to raze her calm facade.
The king broke into a spiel of laughter leaving Elaria to scrunch her face at the lack of respect. "Don't you understand? All old people know each other!" He brought forth another joke, although this time Sokka wasn't here to laugh. "There is still so much for you to understand before you are ready Hai, but I would hate to spoil the story before you even understand the first chapter."
"What? Of my life?" She scoffed at him, "I know my own life Bumi,"
He raised a questioning brow. "Not yet, have you decided to train with Aang?" Elaria zeroed in on the familiarity he had when he said the airbenders name. "Is that any of your business?" she asked in retort.
"It is when it involves how your destinies will affect the world."
She stared at the teacup in her hand, the piping hot water reminding her of the heat in the Fire Nation. She would not betray her people, she had sworn her oaths; but she would journey with Aang to learn airbending, he was the only one in the world that could teach her and it would defend the crown. In a twisted way, it means it's for them, and herself.
