Theo's PoV
As soon as I got the message from Olivia, I knew something was up - which is the exact reason why I made it to the offices in record time.
Three minutes and forty six seconds to be exact.
I text her as soon as I got here, and a few minutes late, I hear her footsteps make their way down the hall. She pushes open the door and the first thing I notice is the lack of clothes she's wearing, but my inappropriate thoughts are interrupted when I notice the blood all over her stomach and clothes.
"What the hell happened you?" I ask and pull her towards me, to inspect the wound.
Maybe touching her was a bad idea, she couldn't have not felt the sparks that I just did.
But we're colleagues and I know how strict this place is about workplace relationships.
"You should see the other guy." She mocks my words from earlier and I laugh.
"Who done this to you?" I ask trying to keep the sharpness out of my voice, but failing.
"Jackson Daniels."
I growl and walk towards the door. "I'm going to kill him."
Olivia grabs my arm roughly. "It's already sorted, just hear me out. He's on his way in."
"My way sounds better." I give her a serious look.
"Theo! Hear me out." She grounds out, squeezing my arm and I'm not lying when I say the girls got strength.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill him?" I surprise myself by the protectiveness I have for Olivia already, yes you care about your partners wellbeing, but I'm edging towards the caring about your partner too much line, and I've known the girl three days.
"We're the dream team remember? We're going to take him down. Yeah the breaking and entering, threatening and injuring me won't stick but it'll buy us time. We'll check out his house while he's in custody - we've got twenty four hours, we'll have a solid plan in place."
I huff and run my free hand through my hair. "Fine but I'm going into the interview room."
"That's fine."
I almost laugh, Olivia Bennett managed to talk me, Theodore Williams down? This girl must have some special powers, because not even my own family could do that.
Knock it off you idiot. There was a physical attraction as soon as Olivia walked through the doors of her apartment, all guns blazing. I mean with that body any guy would jump off a cliff, if that's what she told you to do - slim waist and curves for days.
I put slight pressure on the area around her wound and she hisses.
"What happened?"
"I went to the gym after I left here." She tells me. "When I got home I showered, but I knew once I left the bathroom, that something was up. The house was silent and I though I left the radio on, then he was holding his knife to my neck." She looks at me and smirks. "With my ninja skills I got him to the ground, but he caught me off guard and knocked me down. I lost my breath so that's when the bastard slashed my stomach and told me to..." She hesitates "tell my boyfriend to stay out of his business. A few kicks from me later and I had him pinned down, so I could formally introduced myself."
I laugh and shake my head. "You're ruthless."
She shrugs. "Comes with the job."
She gets a message and looks down at her phone. "He's in room two."
We're in the elevator when I speak again. "You really should get that checked out."
She shrugs. "I've dealt with worse, I'll stitch it up later."
I laugh. "Are you even human?"
"Unfortunately yes and that's why it hurts like a bitch." She grins.
Olivia stops at the door beside the interview room, so she can watch. "See you on the other side, Olive."
She rolls her eyes before grinning. "Don't cause too much trouble Theodore."
She enters the look-on room and once she's closed the door, I enter room two.
"Hey mate, lovely to see you again." I throw his case file onto the table. "Heard you tried to threaten my partner earlier? That was a bad idea wasn't it, bro."
Daniels sneers at me and I notice Olivia was right, she did do some damage to him. I smirk, some of his injuries having been caused from my handwork this morning.
"I want a lawyer."
"And I want you dead, but according to my dear partner we don't all get what we want." I snap.
"You couldn't if you tried." He moves forward, the cuffs around his wrist and ankles being the reason for his harsh movements. "I'm going to get that pretty partner of yours and show her what I'm really capable of."
My hand slams down against the table, I jump to my feet and lean across it. "I'm an off duty cop who won't hesitate to knock these security cameras off and show you what I'm really capable of."
There's a knock at the door.
I huff and grab the file from the table. "I haven't said anything I regret." I say not looking at Olivia - I already know she's giving me a death glare.
"I didn't even say anything," Olivia crosses her arms once I look at her. "but people higher up don't want you interviewing him anymore, the say your the case is 'too personal'. "
I roll my eyes. "Which means they're going to let him out."
"We knew they were going to do that anyway."
"I may work in the system, but it's jack shit."
"I don't disagree, but it's also getting pretty late and my adrenaline has died down so this" she nods toward her wound "isn't getting any better."
I look down to inspect her wound again, but it proves a bad idea, now that my adrenaline has also disappeared, I'm suddenly a lot more aware of the lack of distance between us, or the lack of a bra on Olivia and from her reaction I can tell she noticed too.
She suddenly crosses her arms, turning slightly. I itch behind my ear awkwardly as I step back.
"Agent Bennett you're wanted for questioning." An officer walks up to us.
Olivia nods. "Sure." She gives me a quick glance, and clears her throat, before following the officer down the hall.
I slam the door to my apartment shut when I get home. I grab a beer from the fridge, before dropping onto the couch. Something needs to change, and tomorrow I'll make sure of it.
