"Hey, you weren't answering my calls last night." Tammy walks towards me when I get out of the elevator the next morning.
"Sorry I was too busy crying." When Tammy looks at me in shock, I laugh. "Babes, I didn't answer your calls because I knew Izzy would have called you."
"She's only looking out for you." She shrugs. "We all are."
I nod and give her an appreciative smile "I get that, I do but I'm fine. Everyone including myself, are overreacting. I don't like Theo, he doesn't like me. We're partners, friends but that's it." She's about to say something else but I start walking away. "Can we please stop talking about it now, we're not sixteen anymore."
Tammy laughs and I turn around to look at her, my eyebrows knitted in confusion. "Maybe we are overreacting, that's the first time you've ever stood your ground with anyone since you got here."
I roll my eyes playfully. "What can I say I'm a force to be reckoned with."
I leave my bag on my desk when I get to the office. I'm the first one here so I turn the tv on to a music channel that's playing the top ten songs at the minute. Theo walks in a few minutes later and throws a stack of files in front of me. "Clare said these ones are yours."
I open one of the files, it's old solved case. "What does she want me to do with them?"
"'Put them in alphabetical order before returning them to the basement' her words not mine."
"There's like eighty of these."
"You can clean said basement instead if you want." He smirks.
"Scared of spiders, so that's never gonna happen." I grin. "But have fun."
"You're scared of spiders?" He lets out a rich laugh. "The girl who risks her life for a living."
I shrug. "They're terrifying. I mean eight legs!"
He laughs. "I better get to work."
I nod. "See you later." It's only when he leaves that I realise that's the first normal conversation we've had in ages. I may not like who's he's picked to be his girlfriend but as long as blondie stays out of my way, we might actually stay civil.
Just over an hour later I've finished sorting the files and have returned them to the basement, which Theo is still busy cleaning. I knock on Clares office door on the way back.
"Come in." She shouts and I push the door open.
"Hey, I was just wondering if you have any other work you need doing or can I hit the gym?" I ask.
Clare smiles and shakes her head. "Nothing yet, feel free to do what you want."
I nod. "Thanks, give me a call if you need anything."
The gyms empty when I get there. I change into some workout clothes in the changing rooms.
