The sound of my alarm stirs me awake and as I stretch, a huge smile makes its way to my face, - I get to go to my actual job and hopefully we'll close the case. I change into my uniform and decide to put my hair into a bun, that took way to long to perfect. Because of my extremely good mood I decide to make an effort with my makeup.
It's mainly a waiting game once I get to the office, as I receive occasional texts from Theo telling me the plan is going well.
My phone rings and I pick it up assuming it's from Theo, but see it's my brother.
"Hey, what's up?"
"Yo, I just thought I'd check in on you, mom and dad still haven't shut up about you."
I laugh. "I always have been the favourite."
"More like the most worrisome." He laughs
I hear shuffling in the background and then Simon whispering.
"Everything alright?"
Simon coughs and I hear a small laugh - a girls laugh, one I recognise as my best friends. "I've got to go, talk later." He says in a rushed tone, then hangs up straight away.
Was that just what I think it was? Because ew.
These people really aren't subtle.
I decide to make myself useful while I wait for Theo's call, and go down to forensics.
"Hey Charlie." I walk into his lab. "The report said you were the forensic investigator at the Bishop case last month?"
Charlie nods, turning his attention away from his microscope. "You wanna know what I found?"
"Please."
He steps around the table and pulls the evidence bag from storage. He pulls the usb from the bag and connects it to the computer which displays the screen on his projector, that happens to be the size of the wall.
"On July 21st Dylan Bishop was found with a wound to the back of his head at the family lake. The coroner later found out it was a hatchet that killed him and he hadn't been murdered at the lake."
"Did they find any prints?"
Charlie shakes his head. "But he did have bruises to both arms and legs, which does make it look like-"
"There was more than one person in on it."
"Tyre tracks were found belonging to Dylan's car but by the time forensics went to check it out, Max said it was already in the junk yard"
"Did anyone check that out?"
Charlie shakes his head.
"You don't happen to know which junk yard that was?"
