"Hey." I say walking towards the girls who are waiting for me outside the local cafe.
"Look at you." Gracie whistles. "You even look good for a run."
I almost laugh at how ironic what she just said is, but instead I flick my hair over my shoulder playfully. In reality I spent my morning trying to reach my back and apply foundation over the scars. Unfortunately the weather is currently having a crisis, with some days being scorchers and others freezing - today is a scorcher so a jumper wouldn't be feasible. "What can I say, I strive for perfection."
"You guys ready to sweat what's left of our boobs off?" Tammy laughs.
"Speak for yourself!" Layla crosses her arms with a grin on her face.
"Well Charlie happens to love my A cups." She grins proudly.
"I'm two seconds away from running without you guys." Gracie informs us. "The quicker we start this torture the quicker it's over."
"You don't like running?" I ask her.
Gracie shakes her head. "Hell no! I'm just here for the coffee afterwards."
"You guys ready to go?" Tammy asks and we all nod. Just under an hour later we're finished our run, the coffee Gracie was talking about is a coffee van at the end of our route and from the experiences I've had there it's amazing. I sit on one of the rocks that looks out toward the water while the girls order there drinks.
"Not getting a coffee?" I glance back at Theo who's standing a few steps behind me. He looks as if he's just finished a run of his own, only a lot more graceful than me.
I shrug. "I'm trying to stay away from it." I lift the protein shake in my hand. "So I'm stuck with these for awhile."
Theo laughs and sits down beside me. "About the other night."
"It's nothing." I shake my head and glance up again when another shadow casts over us blocking the sun.
"Fancy seeing you two here, it must be some weird wizard shit that we all run at the same time."
I laugh at Jakes attempt to join the conversation. "Like you were running." I nod towards his attire, a black suit paired with a light blue bow tie. "Why are you so dressed up anyway?"
"Ive got to go play secretary at another meeting." He glances at his watch. "It's almost 1pm and this is my third meeting of the day, consider yourselves lucky."
"Suit and tie for a meeting? It must be serious." Theo notes.
"I'd tell you what it was about but my ass would be fired."
"What times your meeting at?" I ask glancing at the Fitbit on my wrist.
"1:15."
"You've got exactly nine minutes to get there or your ass will be fired." I try not to laugh.
