Long Lasting Words (Written 4-6-20)
The pencil is more forgiving
than the pen
for you may erase
what has been said
The pen is more forgiving
than stone
for you may hide away
the words under more ink
Stone is more forgiving
than speech
for it will weather
and break away to dust
Speech can also be lost to time
but those words will live on forever
in the hearts and minds and souls
of the people they were spoken to
