2020 [Flashbulb Memories] (Written 4-15-20)
I'll never forget
staring up out my window
to the cool shadows of the leaves
when we got the text that school was closedI'll never forget
walking into my mother's room
and her handing me my first mask
laughing like we'd never need themI'll never forget
handing my mother her robe
so she could change after work
to not contaminate our home with hospital airI'll never forget
seeing my mother's face
harsh in the kitchen's yellow light
when she told us she tested positiveI'm making it my mission
to never forget the moment
that I can finally be in the same room as her
and touch her and hug her once more
