"Are you gonna answer his question or not?" I can tell Jc was getting impatient, as I looked at him with worried eyes. His were anxious to see what I would say.

"I-" I look back at Sam "I can't Sam, my mind is already made up. You're part of my story, yes but once something is written and published it can't be erased." From the corner of my eye, I could see how Jc relaxed himself after that was said.

"This isn't a book, though" Sam held my arm, causing my eyes to stare up to his. I know felt a tense stare I knew was coming from Jc. "When you like a song you replay it... that could happen with us..."

"This isn't a song. I don't wanna 'replay'. I don't want to grow through that possessiveness again. I'm not an object that can be owned you know?" I roughly tugged my arm, releasing it from his.

"Melissa... Please..." I could see his eyes wanting to tear up.

"I'm gonna leave you alone I have to go get cleaned up anyway" Jc stated annoyed, while heading upstairs.

"No Sam, I'm sorry" I shook my head in pity.

"Melissa I said I didn't mean any of that" he reminded with gritted teeth.
"Sam, calm down. I said I'm sorry but my answer is no" I tried to ignore the fear that was trying to overtake me.

"How can it be no? I'm asking you and I'm not taking no as an answer" he spoke in a serious tone.

"You can't make me do something I don't want to do" I tried to keep in the tears that were destined to fall.
"Bitch, I told you I'm sorry!" and with that my cheek felt an unbearable sting as it was turned to the right involuntarily.

"You did not just do that" I looked at him surprised with a hand over my cheek that had just been slapped.

"Why won't you just give me a chance?!" he exclaimed, while pushing me back roughly.

"Sam please stop." I put my hand on his chest trying to hold him back from doing anything else.

"No! Why what did I do that was so bad?!" he pushed me but my heels collided with the steps of the stairs as I fell uncomfortably on the steps.

I held up my arms in protection "Sam I told you to stop, please." I looked at him with the most demanding eyes I could.

"No! Why won't you just quit your shit and open your eyes?!" he looked at me furiously as he raised his arm.

"Don't you dare touch her, Sam" I heard from upstairs, as I turned around to see Jc walking down the steps.

"Listen man, this is between me and her don't get involved" Sam warned.

"I already am asshole" Jc glared "now I want you out by the time I count to 3 or you're dead bro."

"Jc you don't-"

"One..." Jc started, while closing his eyes

"Fine, I'll leave. This isn't over though" he challenged, as he stormed out of the house.

"Are you ok?" Jc looked down at me as he helped me get up on my feet.

"Yeah, I think I twisted my ankle though" I whined, as I felt the pain.

"Were you mad?"

"Of course I was, I'm just trying to calm myself down a little" Jc smiled.

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"Lia said it wasn't healthy for me to keep blowing up like I used to" Jc explained.

"Oh" that's right Lia...

Wow I'm so in the friend-zone.

"I'll go get some ice, you sit here and stay cute" he announced as he sat me down on the couch and rested my leg on the coffee table.

"Ok" I smiled.

He came back with the ice and put it on my ankle. "Remember this" he said while pointing at my ankle.

"Remember the ice?" I giggled in confusion.

"No, remember 'pain'" he corrected as he turned on the TV. I didn't ask what he meant, but just wondered. "Do you wanna do anything later?" Jc asked looking away from the TV and towards me.

"I'm hurt" I laughed.

"We can still watch movies and get take-out ya know?" he raised his eyebrow.

"Then that'd be nice" I smiled.

"What are you in the mood for?" Jc asked.

"Hmm... I want McDonald's" I did, but I was joking I don't think he'd want to go.

"Alright I'll be back in 5 with your food" he got his car keys from the coffee table as he headed out.

"No it's ok you don't have to" I tried stopping him.

"Yeah, but I want to" he winked, as he closed the door.
