Hey guys! Long time no see! I'm sorry this took so long. I hit a horrible writer's block especially with the huge alpha fight coming up and the whole Derek and Jennifer thing. Alas, I've finally decided what to do about it and I'm SO excited to see how you guys react. These next few chapters are gonna be fun. For me, at least.
-Recap-
"Can I at least visit him?" He asks.
"I'll consider it." I shrug. "Now can we please finish the paperwork? Hunter needs to be enrolled in school and our son is waiting for us at home."
"Yeah, alright."
(Lyrica's P.O.V.)
Almost an hour later, we're finally finished with the paperwork. About half an hour in, Hunter got antsy and moved to sit with Stiles, and they both ended up falling asleep in their chairs. Stiles is slumped down in his seat with his mouth open and snoring loudly. Hunter is as close to Stiles he can get without leaving his chair, and is hugging Stiles' arm, using his shoulder as a pillow.
"Stiles knew you were coming, didn't he?" Noah suddenly asks and I look up from the paperwork to find him watching the boys. "That's why he tried to get me to come home early."
"Yeah. We didn't want you to know about Hunter." I reply, looking back down at the papers and signing my name where necessary.
"But why? Like it or not, he's my son. Just like you're my daughter."
"That's where you're wrong, Sheriff." I look up at him, handing the clipboard to Derek so he can sign. "You may be the one who impregnated our mother, but you're not our father. We're not your children. A real father would have done what was best for his children, even if it meant dealing with a woman you didn't love. I'm not saying you should have married our mother. God, I'm glad you didn't. She was a monster. But a good father would have at least taken his kids in. Given them a home. You didn't. You swatted us away like a bug. You have zero right to call us your children. We're leaving. Email me the information about Hunter's forms tomorrow."
Derek places the clipboard on the desk and we stand up. I gently pull Hunter from Stiles and both boys remain sleeping. I carry Hunter and Derek and I leave the station.

(Lyrica's P.O.V.)
"Mom?" The door opens just before Isaac's voice sounds, and I can't help but wince as the sound stabs into my eardrums.
"Yeah, Buddy?" I ask despite my body telling me not to, and I force myself into a sitting position.
"I wanted to let you know that I'm leaving. Stiles is giving me a ride to and from. Cora and I are all healed. I'm gonna keep an eye on Boyd and Stiles and Scott are gonna keep an eye on both of us. Cora is trying to keep Hunter taken care of." Isaac's voice is as soft as possible, but it still clashes with my heightened hearing.
"Alright, Buddy." I give him a weak smile. "Be safe. I love you."
"I love you too, Mom." Isaac turns and leaves, closing the door behind him. After I hear Stiles' jeep leave, I fall back down onto the bed, biting back the scream of pain threatening to pass my lips.
I can easily hear Cora and Hunter playing in the basement, due to my entire body fighting itself. I close my eyes with a pained sigh and think about how much I regret fighting with Derek.
-Flashback- (Haven't had one of these in a hot minute.)
"Lyrica, I need to talk to you. I don't have much time but I know you'd kill me if something happened and I didn't tell you beforehand." Derek's voice is rushed as he speaks the second I answer the phone.
"Der?" I ask, worried. "What's going on? Is everything alright?"
"We're going after the alpha pack."
"What?!" I shout, pacing the length of the hallway where I'd stepped out of Hunter's room upon receiving the call. "No way. I won't allow it. And who's 'we'?"
"Me, Scott, Cora, Boyd, and Isaac. Look-"
"What the hell, Derek?!" I shout again. "What the hell are you thinking, bringing our pack, which our son is in, into a fight against 5 alphas?! I don't care what you had planned, get the hell out of there!"
"Lyrica, I need you to listen to me." Derek's voice is more urgent than before and I feel a mixture of anxiety and adrenaline flooding me through the mate bond. "I don't know how this is going to turn out, but I'm not leaving until at least one of those alphas is down for the count. I promise you, Isaac and the others will be fine."
"Derek, you can't promise that! What the hell were you thinking? Why didn't I know about this sooner?!"
"Because I knew you'd be pissed and you'd come try to stop us if you knew. Look, Lyrie, we can't put you in danger. Hunter and Stiles need you."
"They need you too, Derek!" I angrily shout. "Stiles needs Scott and me, and I need you and Isaac and my brothers and I can't function without you! Derek, please, think about what you're about to do. You can't just leave us like this."
"I don't have a choice, Lyrica. I need to protect you at all costs."
"Even the cost of our son's life?! The cost of our pack's lives?! The cost of you and Scott?! Derek, why would you ever think that's okay?!"
"It's okay because we all know what we're putting on the line. Your brothers need you, Lyrie."
"Derek, just please come home!" I shout. "You can't do this! If you and Isaac and the rest of the pack die, I'm as good as dead!"
"They won't die, Lyrica." There's a loud crash in the background.
"Derek, don't do this." I seethe, tears running down my face. "I'll never forgive you for this. You can't just go running towards your death like this."
"I won't die."
-End of flashback-
Those were the last words he said before the call ended. It's funny how his last words contradicted reality. I knew it the second he was gone. It was the worst pain I've ever felt. Like every piece of me was being torn apart, and then some. Hunter was terrified when it happened. I was in his room with him when I started screaming and collapsed. It was around half an hour later when I woke up in my room that I had fully processed what happened. My whole body felt like it was on fire. Like my veins were full of lava and every breath felt like I was inhaling razor blades. Every single sense was heightened. When I saw Stiles, Scott, Isaac, Cora, Boyd, and Hunter sitting around my bedroom, the werewolves all beat up, I broke down and just started sobbing. Not only had Derek died because of some stupid plan, but he also broke the last promise he ever made to me. I felt the difference in my abilities, too. I felt stronger. After some testing, I discovered that my claws are longer and so are my canines. The worst part, though, was that my other eyes weren't purple anymore. They were a sharp, vibrant red.
