It is 11:31 p.m. as I write this, and it'll probably be another 20 minutes until this chapter is published, but I remembered that it was Thursday and since I have episodes more written already, you're getting chapters at least every week. I considered spam updating for you guys, but I'm not that nice. Enjoyyy! (Update: It only took 10 minutes to get this chapter set up, lmfao.)
-Recap-
"...I turned back because of how mortified I was. And after that I did it again when I killed the werecoyotes trying to kill Hunter, but I suppose they weren't entirely innocent for trying to eat a little boy."
-The Next Day-
(Lyrica's P.O.V.)
"Alright." I whisper to myself, carefully closing Hunter's bedroom door. I finally managed to get him to sleep after 2 hours of him pouting and crying and asking where Derek is.
I softly walk down the hall, my feet barely making any sound against the carpet. I carefully open Isaac's door, finding him fast asleep. I smile and gently close the door, walking down to Cora's room. I crack open the door, and she shifts in her bed, turning to face me.
"What're you doing?" She asks, obviously tired.
"I was just checking on you guys." I whisper, stepping inside the room so I don't wake the boys. "You've been through a lot lately and I wanted to make sure you're all getting sleep."
"Oh. Thank you, Lyrica."
"You don't have to thank me for anything, Cora." I chuckle.
"I have everything to thank you for." She sits up and I walk over, sitting on the edge of her bed. "You've been so nice to me since you found us in the vault. You didn't hesitate to accept me into your home, you weren't suspicious of me, you didn't care about my attitude at first. But most of all, you helped my brother."
"Cora, Honey, I did all that because I know you have no ill intentions. You're Derek's baby sister. He always talked about you. So did Laura. They missed you so much. And as for Derek, I did nothing special. I just helped him get back on his feet."
"Still. Thank you."
"You're welcome." I chuckle, standing up. "Get some rest. If you wake up and I'm not here, it's because I went out for a walk."
"You're gonna go find Derek, aren't you?"
"Don't tell." I wink and leave the room, hearing her lie back down as soon as the door is closed.
I go to my room and slip on a pair of sneakers. I scribble a note telling where I'm going and leave it on my pillow before grabbing my leather jacket and leaving.
I take my car, the engine rumbling to life with no trouble, and begin the rather long drive to the abandoned distillery. It takes around 20 minutes, and I park a small ways down the road.
I exit the car and walk up to the abandoned building. I mask my scent like I used to years ago, and silently walk in. Derek's back is facing me and he's staring at a spiral clawed into the side of the building. A vendetta. Ennis' vendetta. I come to a halt a few feet behind Derek, crossing my arms as I watch him.
"Derek?" I make my presence known and he tenses, slowly turning around to face me.
"What're you doing here, Lyrica?" He sighs, running his fingers through his hair.
"Hunter keeps asking where you are, ya know?" I bitterly chuckle. "I can tell Cora wants to come find you, but she doesn't because she has no clue how I'll react. Isaac's pretty upset, too. I mean, his packmate just died and his father just ran off instead of grieving with his family."
