'That guy was checking you out!' Maddie exclaims for the fifth time that day.
This is the second day in Malibu. Maddie and I have explored some of the city, and did some shopping. Now we're just chilling on one of the many beaches in Malibu.'He was checking you out, Maddie. He was kinda cute, though.' I exclaim back.
'No, he was checking you out. And yes, he was cute! Wait here!' Maddie says, jumping up from the sand and running after the guy who had just checked me out, according to Maddie. I see her saying something to him, and he looks at me. He laughs, and they both take out their phone. After about ten seconds, I get a phone call from a strange number. I frown, and look at Maddie and the guy. They're both looking at me.
'Um, hello.' I say hesitantly.
'Hi, my name's Jack.' I hear the guy say. He has an American accent.'I'm Olivia.' I answer, holding the frown on my face.
'I know. Your friend told me. Do you wanna hang out later today? Or tomor- right now.' The guy speaks. Maddie runs back at me, which holds me back from answering for a while.
'Um, hold on.' I say through the microphone before covering it.
'Why are you doing this?' I hiss angrily.
'You wanted a boyfriend, right? Here he is!' Maddie answers.
'I didn't need my best friend to run after some strange American boy I've never met!' I say.
'You wouldn't have done it anyways! Just say yes. He seems nice, and he's cute. Just give him a chance.' Maddie answers. I sigh.'Okay, I'm doing it because you want me to.' I speak then. Maddie claps her hands one time in excitement, and holds her thumbs up to the guy still standing there. I put my phone back to my ear.
'Right now will do.' I speak through the microphone.
'Great. So then I'll just approach you and your friend and we'll talk.' He answers.
'Hanging up now.' I say before hanging up the phone. As the Jack guy approaches us, I see he's got curly brown hair and green eyes.'Hi, Olivia.' Jack says with a smile. His smile looks familiar, but I can't seem to figure out why.
'Hi, Jack.' I answer, getting up from the sand and shaking his hand.
'Um, David's calling me. I'll see you at the hotel.' Maddie says, showing her phone to prove that David is calling her. At least she's not lying about it so that me and this strange Jack guy can be alone. I hold up one hand as a goodbye-sign, and then turn myself back to Jack.
'So, Olivia. Let me guess, you're from England.' Jack says.
'Yeah, that's unmissable. So, Jack, let me guess. You're from America.' I answer. Jack laughs, just like me.'How old are you?' He asks then.
'Sixteen, and you?' I answer.
'Nineteen.' Jack tells.
'Oh. So I guess you've already finished school?' I ask. Jack nods.'And I'm guessing you're going to junior year?' Jack asks, which makes it my turn to nod.
'Yes, I am. Do you go to college?' I ask.
'Nope. Fuck education.' Jack answers.
Ow, that's a big letdown.'Hey, let's go take a walk.' Jack suggests.
'Sure, why not.' I answer, and we start walking.*
After having have had a lot of fun together, believe me, we did; the letdown about the education thing has been made up by now; Jack walks me back to the hotel.
'So, this is the hotel?' He asks, looking up at the hotel.
'Yep.' I answer.
'Oh, so you rich?' He asks. I frown.
